Jonathan Dunkley joins Cazoo as Senior Strategic Adviser

Cazoo, the UK’s leading online car retailer, which makes buying or selling a car as simple and seamless as ordering any other product online, today announces that Jonathan Dunkley, ex-CEO of CarShop and ex-Sytner Group Board member, has joined its team as Senior Strategic Adviser.

Jonathan has spent 15 years and is well known in the automotive industry, most recently as CEO of Sytner’s car supermarket division where he oversaw a team of over 1,600 across 9 UK retail outlets with revenues approaching £1 billion. Prior to this he held several senior positions at CarShop and was an Ernst and Young, Entrepreneur of the Year finalist in 2016.

Jonathan will work with the existing operating and commercial teams at Cazoo, working closely with Paul Whitehead, Chief Operating Officer, to focus on key areas of the Cazoo business such as car buying and reconditioning and growing revenues, leveraging his extensive experience to further scale the business. Jonathan will share his time between Cazoo and his other role as Co-Managing Partner for boutique private equity firm, Camden Ventures.

Cazoo is pioneering the shift to online car buying and selling and has rapidly become one of the fastest growing businesses in Europe. The company has already sold over 35,000 cars in the UK since its launch less than 2 years ago as consumers have embraced the selection, transparency and convenience of buying and selling quality used cars entirely online.

Cazoo has also recently launched an all-inclusive monthly car subscription service for new cars and is gearing up to launch its full proposition later this year in both France and Germany. Cazoo owns and fully reconditions all its cars before offering them on its website for either delivery or collection in as little as 72 hours and has thousands of cars available at any time.

Alex Chesterman OBE, Founder & CEO of Cazoo said, “We are delighted to have Jonathan as part of our team. His experience from running the UK’s largest car supermarket business will be invaluable as we continue to deliver on our mission of providing the best car buying and selling experience for consumers across the UK and Europe.”

Jonathan Dunkley said, “I’m very much looking forward to working with Alex, Paul and the team. Cazoo has achieved phenomenal growth already but are only just getting started. Their strategy and ambition is clear and I look forward to playing my part in helping to transform the largest retail market in Europe.”
