Thinking of getting a Vauxhall Corsa?

The style of the car

The Vauxhall Corsa is a compact hatchback that’s about the same size as rivals such as the Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Polo. Pre-2020 Corsas are available in both three-door and five-door body styles but the latest model, launched in 2020, is available only as a five-door. The Corsa-e is a pure-electric version of the latest model.

How it drives

Whether you’re darting around town or on a longer journey, the Vauxhall Corsa is good to drive. It’s nimble and assured on faster roads, yet compact and easy to park. Most of the engines give nippy acceleration, although some of the lower-powered versions of the pre-2020 model take a while to get up to speed.

The Interior

The Corsa matches most of its rivals for practicality so it’s roomy enough for four adults to sit in comfort and the boot is large enough for a week’s shopping or three medium suitcases. All post-2020 models have sat nav, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, climate control and cruise control. Some versions of the pre-2020 models aren’t as well equipped, but they are inexpensive.

Running costs and reliability

The Vauxhall Corsa is one of the most cost-effective small cars, with particularly low insurance costs for some of the least expensive versions. All of the engines give good fuel economy, while running costs for the all-electric Corsa-e will be very low. Vauxhall Corsa has a good reputation for reliability and finished 6th out of 24 manufacturers in the latest J.D. Power UK Vehicle Dependability Study, an independent customer satisfaction survey. The safety organisation Euro NCAP awarded the latest Corsa four out of five stars in 2019; the previous model achieved the same score in 2014.

How the Vauxhall Corsa compares with similar cars

The Corsa is the smallest new Vauxhall car on sale, although it’s slightly larger than Vauxhall’s Adam and Viva models, both discontinued in 2019. It’s smaller and costs less than Vauxhall’s compact family car, the Astra. The Corsa’s main rivals are ‘superminis’ such as the Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Polo.
