I’m writing this review so people have clear sight of what can go wrong with this company. I spent almost a year fighting to get a refund for my vehicle that had multiples issues including severe oil leaks, constant engine warning lights, engine over-heating and ultimately engine failure. For context, the vehicle was 4 years old and had average mileage. The Arnold Clark branch managers were not receptive to my points about the car not being fit for purpose and said they can’t do anything, not even offering a courtesy car whilst I explored options. I wish I’d have read up on my rights with regards to faulty cars CONSUMER RIGHTS ACT ETC., 30 days - 6 month limits etc. as they made it impossible to return the vehicle even though it was clearly faulty to the point it didn’t function. Arnold Clark sold a £15k car to me that drove for less than 3 months without faults. Failed to mention the 2 year warranty covers up to £5k (and sure enough, didn’t cover many things, but I’m sure that’s in the small print…). They wanted £10k minimum to fix the car after it suffered a complete engine failure. £25k all in all for a car then worth circa £10k. I wrongly assumed a well marketed and recognisable brand = good quality cars and good practices. I’d be interested to know where they source their cars so cheaply for the “best used car deals”. They dismissed me for months until the financial ombudsman eventually gave a justified outcome. Please do your research and take note of reviews that aren’t based solely on the sales process.
