Very helpful and courteous staff. No pressure sales. And they remembered us from last year, making us feel valued. Took time to show us round all the cars we were interested in and organised test drive. Car was ready for pickup at appointed time and staff went through all the controls, making sure we were happy before we drove away.
Bought an almost new car from Arnold Clark (Northwich) a long distance from our address in good faith having looked in detail at the pictures available and spoken on multiple occasions to the salesman. On arrival at the dealer it didn't take long to find a small but not insignificant dent in the car, on further inspection there were multiple scratches and stone chips in the paint work, a stone chip in the windscreen, the number plates front and back were delaminating and it generally looked like it had been poorly looked after. There had been no mention of the amount of paintwork damage in any conversation nor was it mentioned in the cars description and it was not visible on the photos (as it would have been if the photos had been taken after the damage). The salesman's response was highly disappointing 'we wouldn't tell you about this damage it's minor ' 'we wouldn't put that in a photo '. I feel that is dishonest and misleading and playing on the vulnerability of buyers who have travelled long distances to collect a car they potentially need to drive home in. He also offered very little in terms of resolution, he got the car re washed and buffed which did indeed remove one of the minor scratches but of course not the deeper ones. There was absolutely no consideration for reduction in price and no offer to have the bodywork fixed. He did offer a full refund as soon as accounts were back at work on Tuesday (I hope this happens without issue). A very disappointing experience with Arnold Clark. I would recommend anyone buying a car from them to ask very specific questions regarding state of the car and don't trust one that has apparently been driven by the general manager (as that is apparently the only person who drove this particular car).
The car we bought is a good car at a good price,but once we bought the car seems that there not bothered about aftersales Car was dirty when we picked it up was promised a full tank of petrol but it wasn't,free sun glasses never got them and service history missing and no one seems bothered that it is
