After some 15 years as a BMW customer, I eventually migrated first to Vospers Mazda (Plymouth), definitely the best thing I could have done, motoring-wise, at the time! I had two Mazdas, before a brief six-month torrid affair with Omoda, before graduating to Ford for my simply-brilliant Ford Puma Gen-E, which is by far the most 'fun' drive I have ever had - and absolutely ideal for my particular life-style' Many years before coming to Mazda, I had had a previous Puma - with a distinctive aluminium silver knob on the gear stick, which I did enjoy at the time, too, and where I first met Vosper's lovely father-and-son owners. If you've watched ITV over the years, you'll surely recall those iconic Vospers TV adverts, which always featured Peter, with his now-legendary exaltation to get down to Vospers - 'todaaaaaaaaay!' Having now really enjoyed almost a year's happy motoring in my Puma EV, I wasn't intending looking to change it quite yet, since there's absolutely nothing wrong with it, and there's no other car out there, that I'd like to own. But to know recently, that there is now a version with Ford's BlueCruise autonomous driving system onboard, plus a couple of extra refinements, including some twenty or so miles of additional charge, working on the assumption that 'you can't take it with you'. I've now ordered this new version, which should be here in September - even though BlueCruise doesn't currently 'kick in' until the start of the M5 at Exeter! However, no one will know, of course, because I just love my Electric Yellow paintwork, which I'm continuing with, and I have had a personal registration plate for years, so that won't give the game away, either! But, as my charming sales-executive always says to me, whatever you do, you do it 'because you can'! No arguments there, I'd say! I have always enjoyed 5-star treatment from Vospers Plymouth, which is why I'd never ever envisage, or feel the need to change dealerships, should I want a brand which Vospers doesn't currently represent! Cars are basically just cars, but customer service and genuine aftercare are what I consider at least equally as important, once you've shelled out for the vehicle itself! In my personal experience, this is where Vospers scores massively, and why it's almost - but not quite - a pleasure giving them money from time to time! At this juncture, I feel almost like an Oscar-winner, making their acceptance speech, and trying very hard to make sure that no one is forgotten, or accidentally left out along the way. But here goes, anyway. Yet again my all-time-favourite sales-executive, Natalie, has been truly fabulous! She has such an immediately engaging personality, and is so very easy to get on with. She certainly is knowledgeable about the cars, but will always be up front, if asked something she's not altogether familiar with, when she will promise to get an answer just as soon as humanly possible. Sadly, the ability to make a promise, and then not get back, is one of the more vexing qualities today, but not with Natalie, who's definitely 100% old-school in this particular aspect! I've also enjoyed great service from former After-Care Manager, James Powell, who recently left the business, in order to take over and run a small family business he inherited nearer his Cornish roots, as well as sales-executives, Sue, Paul, Sales Manager Marc, Alex and colleagues in Service, and Assistant Sales Director for Cars, Aaron. Then there's the phone-staff at reception, especially Dutch-born Joyce, the outstanding valeting team, and Sandra, who has been Nick Vosper's charming and trusty PA for a number of years now. Finally, of course, there's the indefatigable and dynamic father-and-son duo, who currently oversee almost twenty outlets across the South West, a family business which started out in 1946, which, I am delighted to say, makes the company even older than I am - but I won't divulge by how many years! I dedicate my final sentence to Vospers CEO, Nick - an affirmed Francophile, and fluent French-speaker: 'Allez l'\xe9quipe Vospers!'
