Be very careful with Stevenage Car Ltd. I travelled all the way from Bristol to view and potentially buy a 2023 Peugeot e-208. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I found defects on the car that were not shown or mentioned in the advert. In my opinion, they were clearly not presented properly in the photos, which meant I wasted my time travelling there. The seller was also pushing me to pay a \xa3200 deposit. What he explained to me was that the deposit would not be refunded — you could only use it towards buying that car or another car from him. So if you change your mind, don’t expect your \xa3200 back. My point is simple: if you’re buying a car for around \xa37,500–\xa38,500 and selling it for around \xa310,500, there should be enough margin to actually prepare the car properly before selling it. Trying to maximise profit while putting as little as possible into the vehicle is not a good look. Good luck, but I would strongly advise people to be very careful before travelling a long distance to view a car here. Ask for detailed photos and videos of every defect before you waste your time and fuel.
Looked at a Mazda 2 at Xmas for my granddaughter's first car.It looked OK and drove well so I recommended it to her. She and my daughter completed the purchase and a short while later it was noticed that the steering felt weird. The front tyres had been changed to a nearly bald pair! We have before and after photos to prove. Her stepmother remonstrated with them but was told she should have re-checked the car when collecting it. What a disgraceful thing to do, putting a young woman's safety at risk to net them a few lousy quid. Arthur Daley would blush. If I could leave no stars I would. Totally unethical. This has rankled with me since then hence the late posting.
I booked a test drive through Zuto and they said take 3 yrs extended warranty but for that I got to pay \xa3200 which is fully refundable if I didn’t like the car after test drive. I drove 150 miles from Portsmouth and the car has some rattling noise, so I declined the car. But these cunning people refused to refund my \xa3200. What a disappointment. Very unethical business values. PLEASE don’t pay deposits unless you do the test drive. This company robs and thrives in people who are trying to buy cheaper cars. I’m so disappointed.
AVOID!!! Very worrying experience. We went there with my husband to check a mazda 3.We were repeatedly given incorrect and inconsistent information about the car. We were told the vehicle had a fresh MOT, but when we checked the official MOT history in front of the salesman, it clearly showed the MOT ran until October. This was only acknowledged after we pointed it out. We were also told the car had service history, but the only genuine invoice available was from 2024. The rest was a handwritten list with no receipts, garage names, or proof, including a claimed recent service with no invoice at all. Most concerning was the deposit. We were clearly told a \xa3100 non-refundable deposit was required — both myself and my husband heard \xa3100. When it came to paying the \xa3100, this had suddenly changed to \xa3200, without explanation stating that we misheard and that's how much they always charge! This change in terms at the point of payment felt extremely misleading and unprofessional. Although the dealer initially agreed to carry out work, by that stage trust was completely lost due to the pattern of misinformation and shifting terms. We walked away and are glad we did, and bought the exact car at a better car dealer! Strong advice to others: Do not rely on verbal assurances. Independently check MOT history, demand documented service records, and be extremely cautious with non-refundable deposits.
