Evans Halshaw Ford Merthyr Tydfil
Pentrebach Road, Merthyr Tydfil, CF48 1YA
Bought a BMW from them last August. I've driven 4,500 (careful) miles in that time and when I took it to their local branch for an MOT today, it needed two new tyres. Admittedly, that's my fault for not checking the treads properly when I bought it. Now the reason I didn't check is that I paid for a two-year warranty and was explicitly told the deal came with a fresh set of tyres, when needed. Great. Ah, but there's a catch. That only applies to 'accidental or malicious damage.' Not wear and tear - which means they willingly sold me a car with two badly worn tyres. Hey, you live and learn. What I've learned is that Evans Halshaw are slippery customers and this is the last car I'll ever buy from them - and would advise anyone thinking of buying from them to be extremely cautious.
I was recommended Evans Halshaw Preston as a good place for my Ford Fiesta to be serviced & MOT'd. I can safely say I was not disappointed. Easy to book, a friendly and knowledgeable reception and top customer service throughout. The vehicle video health check is a fantastic feature and helps provide a good visual aid as to the condition of areas of your vehicle not normally seen. Very pleased with the service received.
Terrible product, terrible service, terrible complaint handling and finally terrible Hassan Evans Halshaw Hyundai Leeds – Comedy Value from Avaies & Manager Hassan… but Absolute Cowboys This was my third vehicle purchase from Evans Halshaw, but dealing with salesman Avaies and manager Hassan at the Leeds branch turned what should have been a straightforward purchase into a frustrating experience that would almost be funny, if it hadn’t cost so much time and stress. The experience had comedy value, but the reality is that the operation felt like it was being run by absolute cowboys. It started with Avaies confidently telling me vehicle delivery wasn’t available. This was strange considering it’s clearly advertised by Evans Halshaw themselves. Only after I sent screenshots proving it existed did delivery suddenly become possible. Not exactly reassuring when basic information about your own company’s services has to be explained to the salesman by the customer. Communication throughout the sale was slow and inconsistent. Simple questions took days to answer, information changed depending on the conversation, and key details only appeared after payment had been made. And that’s where the Evans Halshaw Leeds experience really shows itself: Once they have your money – goodbye. Once the car is delivered – goodbye again. Shortly after delivery the car developed noises, warning lights and clutch issues, despite barely being driven. When this was raised with Avaies, the response was dismissive — apparently the car had been “prepared” so nothing could possibly be wrong. The implication being that if something goes wrong after you drive away, it must somehow be the customer’s fault. Trying to get support afterwards was an exercise in frustration. Calls weren’t returned, promised callbacks never happened, emails were slow or ignored, and getting the Leeds branch to actually approve or sign off work felt like chasing people who had disappeared the moment the sale was completed. Ironically, the Evans Halshaw branch closer to my home that eventually inspected the vehicle ended up highlighting just how poor the preparation and communication from Leeds had been. Even they struggled to get responses from the Leeds branch and confirmed multiple issues including clutch and gearbox problems requiring significant repairs. When another Evans Halshaw branch from the same brand is openly pointing out how bad the vehicle preparation and communication was, that really tells you everything you need to know. Even after those repairs, the car still has underlying mechanical noises, which raises serious questions about how thorough the original preparation actually was. So yes, there was plenty of comedy value watching the double act of Avaies and manager Hassan, but in reality the way this sale and aftersales support were handled felt completely unprofessional. Behind the humour, the honest description is simple: absolute cowboys. To note- original removed as per request from Evans Halshaw branch due to naming full name. To note they are happy for full names to be mentioned praise is given not negative reviews.
