Never used a main dealer before but after buying a newish car, I booked my car in for its first major service and also for them to look at the driver's door as the lock has failed and you can't open it. Dropped car off and they said they would call me when its ready. I ended up calling them after 4pm and was told yes, it's ready... and the door was under warranty, and a new part had been ordered, and they would call me with an update. Went to collect it and was told its outside and it's been hoovered and washed. First of all, I had to walk around the car park looking for it as no one told me where it was. Would have been nice for them to at least give me a rough idea.. Anyway, get to the car, it hadn't been hoovered but a bucket of water had been poured over the roof as the windows were now filthy from it. I was in a rush so decided to just drive home. Week past by and I called for an update, Said they would call me back. Nothing. So, a few days later called for an update, Said they would call me back, Nothing. Today spent 20 minutes with the phone ringing before they answered and guess what.. No ETA on the part and Said they would call me back. For a new customer that ''was'' looking at their service payment plan options when this is sorted that's me now done with main dealers. Back to local independent garages that care about the customer in future.
Don't bother. You could try booking an appointment but that means nothing to the people at the showroom. You could drive across town 3 times to sell your car, but each time you'll receive a different story as to why they've knocked thousands of pounds off the online valuation (mine was for a missing parcel shelf which you can replace for £100, and an ad-blue spill in the boot which could be cleaned off). Their website claims competitive prices and that they can buy any car, but unfortunately reality is you are better off selling to literally anyone else. Save yourself the hassle.
I gave this one star as I couldn't give it zero. I went into the showroom yesterday with the intention of buying a new car. The female on reception was most forbidding and stern;she did not speak at all. There were two males sitting at desks. One looked down and the other sucked on his water bottle like a baby. Nobody spoke to me or tried any form of interaction. Clearly, they are not interested in selling cars! Or maybe they didn't think I merited their oh so valuable attention. I'll go to a dealership which does want to sell and shows a little more respect than these 3 "employees". Evans Halshaw - times are bad if you are employing such poor quality "people"!!
I bought my Mercedes B class 70 reg in February this year from Evans Halshaw in Horsforth and the start/stop never worked. I contacted them on Thursday last week and was faced by an appalling telephone system which kept cutting out so I emailed them. Once the person was back in the office on Monday this week the ball got rolling after which I booked my car in for a repair yesterday (Tuesday) which was much quicker than going to Evans Halshaw in Middlesbrough - even though it would have been much closer to home as the earliest they could fix it was late May! I picked the car up today - Wednesday - and it was fixed. Overall a mixed experience but I cannot fault their aftercare once they responded to me.
Customer service from the Service desk is not what it used to be. Very confusing comms around collection of the car and health check, which we weren’t expecting. Told they had left voicemails which hadn’t been left. Invoiced for the free service and thanked for online payment which added to the confusion. I was confused and it seemed work had been done without my authorisation. I didn’t appreciate the stand offish manner I received. We will be going elsewhere for service and MOT in future.
