Update to my review from 2 days ago. My Ssangyong Rexton is now up on their website for \xa34,995. It states in the listing "in very good order throughout" Despite my being harassed about how terrible the condition was compared to what I'd told them about and how it was worth no where near the \xa32,500 they'd offered. They got it off me for \xa31500 because of my being in such a time critical situation - which Ray knew about and clearly played on. Crooks and bullies.
This is the second time we have purchased a car from Chesham LHD Centre and this experience was every bit as good as the first. This time we bought a foreign-registered vehicle and Alex (Biro) was professional, knowledgeable and extremely helpful in guiding us through the process, re. insurance and the equivalent of the MOT etc. He made the buying process straightforward from start to finish. We are so pleased with our new vehicle - thank you, Alex!
Long review but necessary. I had a LHD Spanish car to sell urgently (you only get 14 days from arriving in the UK before you need to do import dutie, new mot, new plates etc) and with just a few days to go I finally got a response from one out lots of LHD car buyer dealers that I had messaged. So, I had answered all enquiries from Ray honestly and openly. I emailed him 5 pictures (that was as much as the email would attach) and he offered me a price. Naturally with a small variable depending on evaluation in person. I got up at 5:30 am to do the drive of 4.5 hours to meet up and do the sale and a guy called Alex turned up. Lots of huffing and puffing ensued about the condition of the car. (It's 18 years old but mechanically very sound, high spec, not beaten up/dented and lots of work recently done in Spain before I drove back to England) But apparently, the leather interior was in 'terrible' condition and I hadn't shown Ray photos of that (its aged leather with cracks but not open rips or deep or peeling off) But when I said that Ray hadn't even asked me for any extra photos before offering a rough estimate, he put me on the phone to Ray who just shouted over me on the phone as if I was the problem and he'd been somehow inconvenienced rather than me - though I'm the one who had driven hours to get there. I'd have taken any extra pictures or videos he wanted but he never asked for more than the ones I had sent him. I had also told him there was partial service history and I had put it through a service, had timing belt done and new ITV (Spanish mot) last month before driving back to the UK. (I spent €2,200 on it in the few short weeks I had it) But although he hadn't asked for exactly what service history there was, until I was stood there with Alex. He made out like I was trying to deceive him because unfortunately (due to the sad circumstances of my leaving Spain rapidly) I didn't realise the proof of service and timing belt wasn't among the papers in the car. There was some receipts but not all them. Now, I understand the value of receipts for jobs but the way he spoke to me was awful. I ended up cryng from the stress and way I was treated. I had to call the garage in Spain whilst crying, to ask them to look on their system to find my history with them and prove what had been done. I wasn't able to do this on my phone because typically it was that very day whilst travelling that my phone number got ported from one provider to another, so I was without satnav and messaging capability (adding to the stress of the whole day) But again, Ray made out like I was using that as an excuse and was just lying and I should have automatically known to just call Spain on Alex's phone!! Funny enough, Alex had plugged in one of those ECU readers to check for any problems and only the issues that came up were electrical - mainly related to the central locking which I had openly told Ray about. But they spoke amongst themselves on the phone as if everything was way worse than I'd disclosed. Of course, then I got "it's not anywhere near the condition you told us it was in, so it's not worth what we offered you, it's your own fault but whatever, you don't have to sell to us" Really? I've driven down the country from Northumberland and he knew I only had 2 days left to sell before having to do the import nightmare. So they had me over a barrel between a rock and a hard place. I had no option but to take a massive loss. But of course made to seem like they're doing me a favour. So if you see an expensive Ssangyong Rexton on their site shortly - just know they treated an already vulnerable woman appallingly to get it for next to nothing.
One car lost for me and one serious buyer lost for them due to very unprofessional customer service. I was also told the car had one previous owner, but the V5C clearly showed three previous keepers \U0001f604 And when someone says “the car has no issues at all” after that… well, you can imagine how much confidence that inspires.
I cannot say enough positives about this company. We bought a left hand drive car to take back with us to live in our new house in Spain so that we didn’t have the bother once we got there. It was an absolute pleasure to have their help - very friendly and warm - and they had so much knowledge. They gave us all the relevant paperwork (thorough) and we then had to register it ourselves. We drove all through France and Spain and are really happy with our vehicle. Special thanks in particular to Alex who couldn’t do enough to help us throughout the whole process.
I initially had a really good experience with both Ray and Alex who were most helpful, and tolerated my often silly questions with politeness when they wanted a sale. However having purchased a car my move fell through, and when I tried to talk to either of them about the car which had to resold I was ignored. I then found out when speaking to other companies that they did not register the cars under their name, so I had been driving a car still registered to the previous owner. An owner sells the car to this company believing they had no further interest in the car, only to find in some instances, that they get fines etc from the new owner. This is not good practice. I would not recommend this company any longer based on this practice
I bought a car, a Skoda Fabia, and I was told that the vehicle was in perfect condition and that I should trust them as there were no issues whatsoever. They even took the car for an MOT inspection to give me additional reassurance. However, I do not know by what fraudulent means they obtained that MOT, because in my country, after driving approximately 500 km following the purchase, a new MOT inspection revealed that the exhaust system was completely rusted, with pieces falling off. Furthermore, the exhaust gas CO levels were completely incorrect and far outside the limits set by the manufacturer.
