If you want good service from a reputable car dealer go to Chartwells! They are a family run establishment and frankly we couldn’t have asked for a better experience with them. We recently bought a car from here and found it to be as advertised - at a good price and without much faffing around. Ask for Phil - he’s the man with the 100 mph delivery of facts, facts and more facts! He is very knowledgeable and I am in no doubt that should there be a problem with my purchase he would do his best to assist. He took care of my old vehicle and tried his best to sell not dump it for us. However the bureaucracy that goes with trying to sell a car with a Channel Island number plate will make your head ache! Thank you for your effort Phil. We can throughly recommend this garage for their professional service.
Bought a car and part ex’d my old one (was told the value of it through I guess auto trader and then was told ‘we wouldn’t offer you that though’) Travelled nearly hour to come pick up the new one, drove half a mile down the road and it over heated so bad the coolant so bubbling for ages. Took it back so they could take to there approved garage, we raised this could be a head gasket issue at the time. They allowed me to take my previous car back. Got a call to say it was just a switch not working, car was then delivered back to me again as a gesture of good will and 2 days later it overheated again. As we were told the head gasket passed the test, so we bought a part for \xa3160 which was the next thing to try fix the issue, this company said they’d pay for under warranty (as a gesture of good will!) then when this didn’t fix the problem and my garage did a head test, they confirmed it was the head gasket that had blown. I called this company to advise what I’d been told and was told they’d give me a refund. I asked for my old car back to be told ‘they had someone lined up for it’ so I was stuck without a car. I even offered to pay for any work they’d had carried out in the days they’d had it but was told no.. Subsequently my old car is now advertised on their website!!! Yes they gave me a refund back for the car and the equivalent of my part ex but they did not refund the \xa3160 for the part as supposedly we agreed we’d get my old car MOT’d (the conversation was actually ‘if we could then we will’ and were told ‘don’t worry If you cant’) and cause they gave me more than their website said for my old car… a choice of theirs to make. I was also at a loss for 2 months worth of tax and \xa360 in admin fees to keep swapping the car on my insurance! Anyway, it took 2 weeks for the ‘new’ car to be picked up with no further communication from this company. Clearly only cares about money and not about the consumer. As other reviews I’ve seen, they’ll probably try to say they aren’t to blame for the problem and that I haven’t told the full story (I’d be here all day if I added more info but I’ve given the facts) but they could’ve made this awful experience a bit better. Very disappointing
Purchased a car from these guys recently and i got what i thought was a good deal, However the following morning i thought i would spend some time to familiarise myself with car, Upon inspection i found the rear bootspace full of water as well as some of the boot lining completely wet, It had not rained during the night nor the previous week, I immediately contacted the dealer and was told it was quite common on a Ford Focus and was told to bring it back the following week so they could fix, I was not really happy with this as they assured me that their valeter had not noticed this at all when he cleaned it? The water had been there for quite some time as there were signs of rust on the spare wheel and the jack etc so i find this claim to be dishonest!! I was given a full refund which i was happy with, This fault on a \xa37k car!!! Would not recommend,
