Engines and transmissions

A variety of petrol and diesel engines can be found in used examples of the Suzuki Grand Vitara, along with an automatic or a manual gearbox and standard four-wheel drive.

Petrol

Third-generation release offered a 1.6-litre engine producing 104bhp or a 2.0-litre motor creating 138bhp.
2.4-litre later replaced the 2.0-litre and generated 163bhp with a 0-60mph time of 10.8 seconds.
Second generation included a 92bhp 1.6-litre, a 126bhp 2.0-litre and a 142bhp 2.5-litre.
The most powerful model was also available in the second generation, with the 2.7-litre V6 engine generating 180bhp.

Diesel

1.9-litre (shared with Renault) produced 127bhp for a 0-60mph time of 12.4 seconds.
Second generation included an 85bhp or a 107bhp 2.0-litre model, depending on the variant.
The Suzuki Grand Vitara builds on the smaller Vitara to be even more practical and accommodating to passengers.

Interior space

Longer and wider style makes the third generation the roomiest of the models.
All models have sufficient headroom for taller passengers.

At launch, the Grand Vitara had a five-door body.
