Clear all filtersThinking of getting a Lexus SUV?
If you want a premium SUV that stands out from the crowd, it’s well worth taking a look at the Lexus SUV models. Why do they stand out? They all have Lexus’s big, distinctive front grille and they’re not as common as other premium SUVs made by brands like Audi and BMW.
Selling in smaller numbers doesn’t mean a Lexus SUV isn’t as good a choice as an Audi or BMW SUV, though. Whichever Lexus SUV you get, it’ll offer a generous amount of space, lots of equipment and a relaxing driving experience. They’re also all available with hybrid or electric power, so they could help you reduce your fuel bill and carbon footprint, all while being among the most reliable cars you can get.
Which Lexus SUV models are available?
Lexus makes quite a few different SUV models for markets around the world. Three are available in the UK:
Lexus UX – The smallest Lexus SUV is the same size as the Audi Q3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA, and it’s available with hybrid or electric power. It has space for four adults but the boot is on the small side for this type of car. You do get lots of features included as standard, though, even in the entry-level model.
Lexus NX – Lexus’s equivalent to the BMW X3 and the Land Rover Discovery Sport is available with petrol, full-hybrid or plug-in hybrid power. Being bigger than the UX, it’s a more family-friendly option and the hybrid models cost relatively little to run.
Lexus RX – The largest Lexus SUV available in the UK comes in two sizes – the standard, five-seat RX and the longer, seven-seat RX L. Both have a huge amount of space and even the entry-level models are very well equipped, giving you more features as standard than rivals such as the BMW X5 and Volvo XC90. Hybrid power keeps running costs relatively low, too.
Common questions about Lexus SUVs
Lexus is generally considered a premium car brand, like Audi or BMW, rather than a luxury brand such as Bentley or Aston Martin. But all Lexus SUV models give you a very comfortable ride, a relaxing driving experience and a lot of features as standard, many of which you’d have to pay extra for in other premium SUVs. All of that combines to make Lexus SUVs feel rather luxurious.
Lexus is a division of the Toyota Motor Corporation, a huge conglomerate best known for its cars, but which also makes everything from industrial sewing machines to forklift trucks. Lexus was set up in the 1980s to create premium cars that were better equipped, quieter, more comfortable and more reliable than European luxury cars of the time, and that’s what Lexus still aims to do today. Although Lexus cars sell in relatively small numbers in the UK, the brand is hugely popular elsewhere in the world, particularly in the US.
Any Lexus SUV is a very comfortable car, with suspension that takes the edge off lumps and bumps in the road very well. Lexus SUVs also have soft seats that hold you firmly in place when going around corners. Pick a top-of-the-range model and it’ll have leather seats with electric adjustment, heating and cooling and, in some cases, a massage function to ease away the strains of the journey.
