Used Audi A1 Sport cars

The Audi A1 Sport is a trim level of the Audi A1, which is Audi’s small hatchback. The Sport trim is one of the most cost-effective options in the Audi A1 range, but it still comes with a number of features to uphold Audi’s premium image.

The A1 is the smallest model in the Audi range and a rival to premium compact hatchbacks such as the Volkswagen Polo, the DS 3 and the Mini Hatch. It’s like owning a car with the strong image and high build-quality of a larger Audi, but at a more affordable price.

The first-generation Audi A1 was sold new from 2010 until 2018, initially as a three-door model but with a five-door model also available from 2012. Slightly confusingly, the five-door-only car is officially called the Audi A1 Sportback. Because ‘Sportback’ is part of the name of the car, rather than a trim level, it means that the five-door model we’re looking at here is actually called the Audi A1 Sportback Sport.

A second-generation model arrived in 2018, available only in five-door Sportback form, and you have lots of versions to choose from.

The Sport trim is towards the more affordable end of the Audi A1 range. At one point there was a lower trim, called Technik, but as of October 2023, the Sport was the entry-level A1 model if you were to buy one new.

The Audi A1 Sport is basically the benchmark for the A1. Although earlier A1s were also available in the lower-spec Technik trim, not that many were sold in comparison. The Sport is popular because it balances price and features very well. You’ll get alloy wheels, parking sensors and comfortable, supportive sports seats, but you don’t get the jazzy extras that higher-spec Audi A1s will have.

The next step up the trim ladder is called S line, which takes styling elements from performance A1 models, including larger wheels and lower, stiffer sports suspension. The top-spec model is called the Vorsprung, which has luxury features like heated seats, a digital driver display rather than traditional dials, and a larger touchscreen infotainment system.

The amount of power or bhp that an Audi A1 Sport has depends on which engine it has. The latest model A1 Sport comes with a choice of two petrol engines – the 25 TFSI with 94bhp or the 30 TFSI with 108bhp.

The first-generation A1 Sport came with a variety of petrol and diesel engines. The petrols ranged in power from 93bhp to 140bhp, while the diesels ranged from 103bhp to 140bhp.

Most of Audi’s cars have a Sport model, to the point where it’s easier to list the cars that don’t. Early Q7 and Q8 models and the TT sports cars featured a Sport model, but they were later phased out. There’s no Sport model on the E-Tron GT or R8 sports cars, either.
