I purchased a Jeep Compass from this garage and the whole experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. Looking back now, there were red flags from the start. When I arrived to collect the vehicle, it had already been taken out of the garage, started, and fully warmed up. At the time I didn’t question it, but it now seems clear this was done to hide underlying issues. As soon as I got the car home and started it from cold, it sounded like a tractor. I had it inspected by another garage who advised that, without a full diagnostic, they couldn’t confirm definitively, but it could be something serious such as the timing belt or the engine not running on all cylinders. On top of that, the rear brakes and pads were heavily worn and warped — clearly unsafe and something that should never have been missed. I have photographic evidence of this. It also raises serious concerns about how the vehicle passed a recent MOT. After already spending additional money on my private registration, tax, and insurance, I contacted the garage with video and photo evidence. I was told to return the vehicle for a full refund, despite the fact I had travelled 3.5 hours to collect it and the car was not in a condition I was willing to drive back. After repeated back and forth — and being refused the opportunity to speak to a manager or owner — they eventually agreed to collect the vehicle. Even then, I was told to remove my private registration at my own cost and was refused reimbursement for expenses. I had to argue just to receive \xa330 towards fuel, which didn’t even cover half a tank. They then sent a driver to collect a vehicle that was clearly not roadworthy, with brake issues and serious engine noise, which raises further concerns about their standards. To make matters worse, \xa3200 of my money was withheld until I provided proof of the V5C update. I will not be accepting any apology at this stage. Based on my experience, I have no confidence in this garage. I fully expect a response attempting to dispute this review, however I have retained call recordings, messages, and full evidence of the issues raised. Anyone who would like further information is welcome to contact me. This has been, without question, the worst garage I have ever dealt with. Avoid at all costs.

I recently purchased a lovely BMW 1 Series from this dealership and was very impressed with the overall experience. The sales approach was relaxed and pressure-free, which made the process comfortable and enjoyable. After a few weeks, I encountered a minor issue with the vehicle. Upon contacting them, they promptly addressed the problem under warranty. I genuinely feel they went above and beyond to resolve it. Their service team was excellent—professional, efficient, and communicative throughout, keeping me fully informed at every stage. I would not hesitate to purchase another vehicle from them in the future and would highly recommend their services.
Fantastic service from everyone at Dave Fox Cars. Customer service and satisfaction are definitely at the heart of the business. The guys there couldn't do enough to make sure that I was happy with my purchase and the aftersales too is second to none. Can't recommend highly enough. A truly disappointing experience. I found Dave Fox Cars while searching for a BMW M2 Competition, at the time of writing this (12th May 2025) a 2020 blue BMW M2 C which is for sale via their website and Autotrader. After speaking with the dealership and being told the car wanted for nothing, and that it was immaculate, I placed a deposit on the car. I then made the long journey to meet them and view the car. On arrival the car was pulled outside so I could view it, although it was parked in the shade, I therefore moved it into the sunlight so that I could get a proper look at the car. My very first question on the phone two weeks prior was 'has the car had any paint', and 'does the car have any accident damage?' I was told it didn't, so I decided that the top money asking price was probably fair given its perceived condition... However, on quick inspection I discovered the car had accident damage, both the driver's side front wing and driver's door had been painted, there were fish eyes in the lacquer of the door and the front wing had a satin finish with ripples to the panel that suggested body filler under poorly applied paint, all of which had been badly executed. I raised this with the sales person who made out that this was news to them... given they've been trading for thirty years and deal in classic cars, I think it's reasonable to presume that they were fully aware of the car's condition, and work on the basis (certainly in this case) of doing the absolute minimum to move stock on. I was offered a small amount of money off the car, which I declined, as it wasn't nearly enough to cover the repair cost to fix the car correctly. I asked if the car would be repaired as I would then reconsider it, but was told, and I quote; "no, we wouldn't fix it, as it may come back worse than it is now, so we'll see if some idiot comes along, I mean, someone that's not as bothered about its condition as you". That told me all I needed to know. In addition, no offer was given to cover my fuel or my time that I'd spent on getting to them on false pretence. I wouldn't normally write a review such as this, but this was an experience worthy of noting.
The policy of allowing me have a look at the car & take it for test drive on my own, without pressure & ‘salesmanship’ from the dealer was refreshing. They allow you decide for yourself if it’s the car you want but are there for questions & to show you the quirks of the car when you’re ready. Mick is great - friendly, informative, laidback & professional at the same time. When I collected the car the next day, I can only say that John is a lovely chap. I highly recommend Dave Fox Cars when you see a car that you like.
What a service!!! Where do I start…..BIG thanks to Pete, Dave and especially Trevor the mechanic This was my first experience buying from a used car trader and to be honest I have always been cautious as you hear a lot of horror stories but seeing the car they had up for sale one I have been looking for for a long time now and a low milage low owners, high spec example in near A1 condition with full Audi history and literally 20 minutes from my house it appeared too good to be true so I had to take the gamble. Pete was great on first viewing of the car and didn’t really put us under too much pressure simply passed me the keys and said go for it!!…. They did offer me part ex on my old car but also gave me the option of holding the new car for me until mine sold private which it did within a few days luckily! The car was almost perfect but did have a couple of issues which they quickly booked the car in for diagnosis and following that shortly after with a prompt repair all under warranty carried out by Trevor and his team at their In house workshop and done to a high standard and offering a me a courtesy car to keep me mobile And to say I’m a difficult customer is an understatement I’m sure Pete will agree lol But once again thanks to Pete and the team at Dave Fox motors wouldn’t hesitate to buy from them in the future Many thanks Andy
