Used Audi A4 S Line cars

S Line is the sporty-looking trim level available for Audi’s mid-size A4 saloon and A4 Avant estate. You can tell it apart from other A4 models by its deeper bumpers and side skirts (those panels below the doors), its bigger wheels and small rear spoiler (on the boot lid of saloons and above the back window on estates). Inside, there are sports seats, a three-spoke steering wheel, brushed aluminium trim on the dashboard and doors, and stainless steel pedals. It’s available with all the same engines as other A4 trim levels, with manual and automatic gearboxes and with four-wheel drive (which Audi calls Quattro).    

The A4 is Audi’s contender in what’s sometimes called the ‘compact executive’ section of the market. In practice, that means it’s very similar in size and concept to cars such as the BMW 3 Series, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Jaguar XE. The current A4 (introduced in 2016) is the fourth generation in a line that goes back to 1994. 

Since the early 1990s, Audi has sold a range of high-performance cars whose names start with S: S3, S4, S6, etc. But there was demand from customers for a car that looked like these high-performance models but had lower running costs. Audi answered that demand by introducing the S Line trim level in 2005, initially on the A4 and A6. Over the next few years, the S Line option was added to nearly every other car in the Audi range.

S Line sits roughly in the middle of the A4 range, above Technik and Sport, below Black Edition and Vorsprung.

The S Line trim level is distinguished from other A4 models by its sporty-looking design changes and its 19-inch alloy wheels. Note that the Black Edition and Vorsprung trim levels have a very similar makeover, but you can tell them apart from S Line because they have different wheels and glossy black trim around the windows, front grille and front bumper air intakes. On the S Line, those details are silver in colour.
