I collected a Mercedes EQC from the Wigan branch of Arnold Clark after driving over 3 hours from Peterborough. I want to be very clear that Laura at the Wigan branch provided exceptional customer service—she was professional, helpful, and a credit to the company. On the journey home along the A1, a warning light appeared and the rear driver-side tyre began losing pressure rapidly. I had to pull into a service station to inflate it, only to have it go flat again within 5 miles. What should have been a straightforward return journey turned into a stressful and potentially dangerous 5-hour ordeal. I contacted Arnold Clark at the time and was told they would cover the cost of a replacement tyre, which gave me some reassurance. However, it is the service team’s failure to properly check the tyre before handover that has ultimately left me very disappointed. When I took the car to Kwik Fit on the Monday, the issue turned out to be far more serious. The tyre had an approximately 10-inch split in the sidewall—something their manager confirmed could have resulted in a catastrophic blowout at motorway speeds. I was extremely lucky this didn’t happen while travelling at 70mph. This raises serious concerns about the vehicle’s inspection and safety checks prior to handover. A defect of this magnitude should never have been missed, and it put my safety at significant risk. While I appreciate the offer to reimburse the cost of the tyre, I do not feel this adequately reflects the severity of the situation, the distress caused, or the additional time and inconvenience I experienced. I would expect Arnold Clark to take full responsibility for this incident and provide appropriate compensation beyond simply covering the tyre—particularly given the clear safety implications. At present, I am very disappointed with the level of care and quality control demonstrated, and I hope this matter is addressed more seriously going forward. I would welcome a response from Arnold Clark on how they intend to resolve this appropriately.
Have had about six trade-ins in the past from A.C. sighthill Edinburgh.P.C.Grant Scott and Branch Manager. Always both very helpful thanks too Both. Only downside entry and exit and parking to and from the dealership I found dangerous could do with some double yellow lines outside the entrance and exit.
Very poor experience, I wanted to buy a car and was told that because I live on an island in the UK that they couldn’t sell to me, when I told them that was untrue and that I’d bought numerous cars from the mainland UK over the years they didn’t want to know and wouldn’t look into it further. Very unimpressed !
