Appalling experience!! Saw an ad on insta for Geely EX5 (this is an EV) £329 deposit and monthly on 0%. This is going to be my first EV. Called, made made appt with (Jaimie) for a test drive. Booked for 11am Sunday (3 May), sms received. After an hour drive, arrived, Jaimie had a day off (known to me) met at the entrance by Arhasa (may be spelt in correctly). Took us over to the car to be driven. Unfortunately, the car did not have enough charge for test drive. There was another EX5, but not able to test drive. Disappointed, was shown the demo PlugIn hybrid. Requested for the EX5 to be put on charge, while we looked over the Hybrid. Reluctantly this was plugged in for charge. Was told the plug in hybrid is the same vehicle as the EX5, but the plugin comes in 3 models and ok for test drive. Disappointed, looked around the car and did a short test drive. Came back, asked questions about the vehicle (EX5) and the offer. Were sat at a desk, was asked if I had a copy of their insta offer. I said no, did not think I needed to save the offer o saw. it was their offer it should be on their system!? Was told at the desk I would be shown a PDF of the offer, at the desk was told there was no PDF available for the EX5 only the plug in hybrid. I tried to ask again what the offer was? It was played the standard sales pitch of what number do you want a month and how much deposit! I was there because of an advertised offer which no one seemed to know about. The situation was getting worse by every question I was asking. So far, since we walked in, no information about the car has been provided. I asked what length charging cable comes with EX5. I was told ‘I don’t know’. At this point, the ‘manager’ joins the conversation. I asked about the offer, no acknowledgment, but asks us which model of EX5 we weee interested in. At this point, I told my wife that we should go as we had spent an hour to drive and long time in the showroom, but gained no real information and every question was being dealt with like children. As we walked out, I explained to the ‘manager’ it had been a joke despite which he was prepared to argue and belittle us in an almost threatening manner. Very very unprofessional. Wasted in total 3 hours, gained nothing. If you are looking for a Geely or EV, there are other dealers who will offer a better experience. Stay away from Arnold Clark Chertsey!
Don't assume anything. Be wary about vehicle description. Ask about damage to bodywork. Don't give in to time pressure. Don't expect any human kindness or flexibility. To them you are just a cash dispenser. Understand that and you might just get a bargain. NB. Second star only because they have 150kWh EV charging at £0.55/kWh!
