1 Previous Owner, This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Race Retro 2026 - Competition Cars on Saturday the 21st of February, Stoneleigh Park, Stoneleigh Rd, Coventry, CV8 2LG. , Presented here is an outstanding example of the iconic MGB, meticulously prepared to full FIA specification and completed to the very highest standards. The build was entrusted to Daryl Davis of Moto-Build Racing, utilising a correct and exceptional factory shell, and executed with an uncompromising attention to detail throughout.Power is supplied by a fully rebuilt engine from John Sabourin, the highly regarded Kent-based engine builder renowned for combining performance with durability. Assembled with reliability and longevity firmly in mind, the result is an elegant and cost-effective entry into the world of historic motorsport, equally suited to the novice competitor or the seasoned enthusiast seeking a beautifully prepared ‘B’.Superbly presented in Tartan Red with an OEW hardtop and sitting on silver Minilites, the car looks like it has just rolled out of the Competition Department in Abingdon. The interior is equally professional with a full cage, Sparco seat, TRS harness and Moto-Lita wheel. Being a recent build we imagine all the safety related equipment is in date but, as with any competition car, it's best to check the currency and suitability of the relevant equipment.Although finished to full FIA specification, the car has never been formally presented for classification, affording the next custodian the opportunity to complete this final step and further enhance both its competition potential and long-term desirability. Importantly, the MGB has never been raced, having only undertaken three shakedown track days, all completed without issue. The car is accompanied by a comprehensive history file, including a detailed build specification, supporting invoices and associated documentation, clearly evidencing the care, expertise and investment lavished on this exceptional example. It should be noted that the registration number illustrated, 777 DBL, is currently on retention but is included within the sale (the car is presently registered as ARU 651B). 777 DBL is a nod to the famous works MGB, '7 DBL', used to great effect in the 1964 Rallye Monte Carlo piloted by Donald Morley with Earle Morley as co-driver, offering the new owner the opportunity to further enhance the car’s period-correct appearance should they wish.A rare opportunity to acquire a freshly built, FIA-specification MGB of exceptional quality, poised and ready to be enjoyed on road, track or as the foundation of a competitive historic racing career.
