It was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction, utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional bodyonframe construction used on both the MGA and MG Ttypes. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. Manual windows were standard and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. The MGB's performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction with a 060mph time of just over 11 seconds; this was aided by the relatively light weight of the car. Handling was one of MGB's strong points. The threebearing 1798cc, BSeries engine produced 95bhp at 5, 400rpm with the engine upgraded in October 1964 to a fivebearing crankshaft to improve reliability. This 1965 MGB Roadster is a sought after pullhandle model but is one of the rare crossover cars fitted with a fivebearing crank 1800cc engine.
