The Car-ma Sutra: The Ultimate Guide to In-Car Intimacy
Two-thirds of Brits admit to getting frisky in their car – and Gen Z are leading the way. Here’s how to keep it fun, safe, and comfortable.

Ever decided to get frisky in your car? According to our research, two-thirds of Brits admit to having used their car as a love nest. This trend is particularly prominent amongst Gen Z who, due to living with their parents longer than ever, can find finding ‘private time’ with a partner difficult within their homes.
An intimate evening in a car can certainly be enjoyable and provide a great view. But with potentially cramped conditions and the need to avoid prying eyes, it can also be a tricky situation to navigate.
That’s why we’ve teamed up with Sex and Relationship therapist and expert Georgina Vass to create The Cazoo Car-ma Sutra Car Guide, breaking down the best car models, positions and tips and tricks to ensure you can enjoy an intimate moment whilst staying legal, safe, and comfortable!!
In response, we've launched the Car-ma Sutra Guide – the ultimate handbook to in-car intimacy – offering expert advice on the best positions, car models and legal considerations.
Remember – being caught in public could land you in hot water. Keep it discreet, safe, and private.

Key advice before you crack on
Georgina Vass has over 15 years of academic and professional experience in sex education and mental health services, offering a sex-positive approach to individuals and couples.
Working with Cazoo, she offers advice on the best ways to prepare for, and enjoy, lovemaking in your car.
Scope out:
When planning your fun evening, bear in mind the need to find a private space. Opt for a private driveway, your own land, or your partners. Remember that if you are visible to any members of the public, this could result in a public indecency charge, so make sure you’re well and truly in private.
Consent:
All sexual activity requires consent, so be sure that you have both willingly and enthusiastically agreed on this sexual activity, and that you both feel safe and comfortable.
Vibes on, car off:
To stay safe and make sure you’re keeping legal, you must turn off the car during this activity, as well as making sure the hand brake is on. Having sex whilst driving is a no-go, and could lead to a charge of careless or dangerous driving. Park in a safe, private spot and make sure your key is out of the ignition.
Make an effort:
If this might become a regular spot for you and your partner (like it is for many), prepare your car with more than just safety and legal essentials—stock up on everything you might need, like condoms, hand sanitizer, air freshener, and a soft blanket. These will all come in handy and improve the overall experience. A good playlist is also a perk, but make sure you bring a speaker, as you won’t be able to keep the car stereo on.
Crack a window:
Unless you’re into Titanic role-play/scene setting, have the windows or sunroof slightly open for temperature control, fresh air, and to reduce steamy windows.
Mirror, mirror:
Viewing yourself and your partner in a mirror during sex can be incredibly arousing, and cars have various mirrors that can be angled to be visible from various positions. So experiment and use them!
Top positions to try
In terms of positions, there is room to explore several different options if you use the space well. Some ideas to consider include:
Love on top:
Reverse cowgirl can work well here with the seat moved all of the way back and the seat reclined. With a hand on the glove compartment for stabilisation, the partner on top may find that moving back and forth is easier than up and down. The other hand can be used for stimulating themselves or an erogenous zone of their partner; their choice. But keep in mind that the rider may easily bump their head on the roof of the car.
69:
This may be easier in the back, but it is not impossible in the front. If the front seat is extended as far back as possible and you position the partner on top to have their toes touching the roof, this activity could be an interesting alternative to the more basic car positions. If opting for the back of the car, look for an adequately deep footwell and a front seat that moves sufficiently far forward.
Lovemaking:
With the seats reclined fully back, creating a bed-like space, more positions are feasible. Missionary is a crowd pleaser due to the ease and accessibility for most body shapes. Another backseat position for the loved up is the Lotus. If the partner on the bottom is sitting on the edge of the back seat, the partner on top can sit on top of them, facing them and move relatively easily.
All fours:
With the back seats fully reclined in a bed-like space, one partner could be on all fours while the partner on top bent over them and held them close to avoid hitting the roof of the car. Their hands could be used to stabilise themselves or, more enjoyably, stimulate various parts of their body
