I purchased a Mercedes C-Class from Mercedes Stratstone Colchester in February. When I collected the vehicle, it looked immaculate after being prepared by the dealership. However, after the first wash, I began noticing scratches on the bonnet. At first, I didn’t pay too much attention, as it is an approved used vehicle and minor marks are to be expected. After recently giving the car a thorough clean in proper lighting, it became clear that the bonnet is heavily scratched and really needs repainting. It now feels as though the dealership simply polished over the defects to temporarily hide them rather than carrying out a proper repair. You only truly notice the condition of the vehicle once you get it home and inspect it properly yourself. What makes this even more disappointing is that, from day one, the vehicle has had multiple issues. Three of the rear lights had water ingress, and I was told by Mercedes Colchester that this would not be covered under the approved used warranty, leaving me facing a repair bill of around £1,300. Thankfully, after booking the vehicle into another Mercedes dealership, they confirmed the issue should in fact be covered and repaired it under warranty. When purchasing from a main Mercedes dealer, you naturally place trust in the quality, honesty, and preparation standards you would expect from a premium brand. Unfortunately, my experience has been the complete opposite. I genuinely feel you would receive a better-prepared vehicle and more honest service from a small independent garage. I would strongly advise anyone considering purchasing from this dealership to inspect the vehicle extremely carefully before driving away, as cosmetic and mechanical issues may not be disclosed properly during preparation or sale
