Evans Halshaw Ford Chester
Sovereign Way, Chester, CH1 4QJ
I started financing a car from Evan Halshaw Doncaster in June 2025 and was told the car had just had an MOT and servicing it had done 19,345 miles when I got it. 3 and a half months later the breaks started making a grinding noise so I rang the garage and they said they couldn’t get it in for 2 weeks, I need the car to get me to and from work with working in A&E public transport doesn’t always work around shifts, I took it to my local garage instead and it needed both new break pads and discs on the back wheels as they was ‘metal to metal’ this cost me an extra £200+ to get changed even though when I gave my old car as a part exchange I was told they’d need to take some money off the value of it because it’ll need new break pads but can give me a car at full price with near metal to metal breaks and no mention to me that they will need changing soon. A couple of weeks later when I’d thought more about it I checked the MOT certificate to see if there was any advisories about the breaks and there wasn’t but I did notice that the mileage on the certificate was saying 31,141 miles which is wrong I then rang the garage and told them about it and they said it could take 6 weeks for it to get changed which was fine. Fast forward and multiple phone calls to chase it with the garage and a phone call to Evan Halshaw Gainsbrough (where the certificate says the test was done) who told me they had no record of ever having the car, I finally had an email in march (after I mentioned trading standards) asking for the document reference on the V5 form because DVSA was needing it and I sent that over. Then again I had no more updates and still no change on the MOT certificate. Fast forward to now 2 weeks away from my next MOT being due where the mileage is going to be lower than the first one which will then have a mileage discrepancy and could cause problems for me when coming to sell the vehicle and still not a word from the garage about sorting the problem. I most definitely will be returning the vehicle at the end of the finance if it doesn’t get sorted so that it wouldn’t be my problem to sell with the discrepancy.
From our first visit to the showroom, where we met Stuart, to collection of our new car ever, we were treated with courtesy and respect. We felt no pressure to buy. Stuart was knowledgeable and helpful and took care we fully understood, answering all our questions thoroughly. Thank you
