Me and my partner have both brought cars through this dealer ship. Avoid this place. Although they where very helpful and charming the Motors them selves where not properly serviced. After having constant problems with the cars. My partner has had to call the break down service numerous times. After just having my car for two weeks my air intake was broken. My air con also did not work properly. Also my clutch and gear box had broken. Thankfully i was able to sort mine. They did in fairness refund me some money but that was only for the air Intake. Having to take a car to the garage 4 times in three months is simply awful. My partner spent over \xa38000 on her purchase and again as the warranty run out she has had to have the hole head gasket replace including turbo and has had constant problems. This car again was never properly serviced. She has been without a car for over 7 weeks due to the complicated repair. This has cost us over \xa34000 !!!! to repair. What a disgrace. When my partner tried to reach out she had no response. The stress this has put on her has been immense. Avoid This place.
Brought a fiesta from this company. They put it through a MOT. 1 month later the car was still showing no MOT. Got hold of the dealer they said to bring it back down to there garage that they use because somebody had made a mistake on the registration inputed on to the MOT…. Fast forward to the next MOT and it’s became apparent why another registration was put on the MOT…. Because this car never would have passed the exhaust is in such bad condition poor welds everything. The 2 garages I’ve visited in Exeter cannot believe the shoddy work that has been done on it. And have both stated that there is no way it would have passed the previous MOT. Now I emailed this dealer a couple of months ago about this. But they didn’t have the courtesy to get back to me. This car needs a new complete exhaust system. Silencer, mid pipe and catalytic converter. Shocking business. Absolute disgrace. I’m going to be contacting the finance company regarding this. As it’s definitely an expense that I shouldn’t have to pay. Now you could say wear and tear. But this car has been used 5 days a week for the school run about 2 miles a day. And when it’s half term summer holidays dramatically less. AVOID THIS COMPANY. Something isn’t right with them and the garage they use for MOTS. I’ll also be reporting to DVSA about this MOT. Edited after reply: So to your reply I emailed you after 7 months and you didn’t reply. And after doing 1000 miles because that’s all I’ve done in it the full exhaust system wouldn’t wear. You’re a cowboy outfit. I suggest anyone who has a problem with a vehicle the purchase from him to take it to the Motor Ombudsman or county court. They shouldn’t be able to get away with RIPPING people off let alone selling unroadworthy cars with dodgy MOTS from his pal
I’ve had my fair share of bad experiences with second hand dealerships and this was not one. I had seen a car I was interested in online and went to visit the showroom. Neil and his team were very relaxed and allowed me to look around any of the cars I wanted. The were happy to discus comparison and let me take the car for a drive. No pushy sales pitch which was refreshing. The car came with a warranty as well as AA cover for a year and 3 years servicing and MOT, which is their standard offer. After a couple of days there was a low battery warning but Neil happily ordered a brand new battery and got it fitted within 24 hours., I am really happy with the car and so far the experience from Elm. I would recommend a visit, if you are in the market for a second hand car. What so far has been an honest and fair experience with no hassle.
I purchased a car from ELM Motors which turned out to be faulty. When I raised concerns, I was treated poorly throughout the process and repeatedly dismissed. I was told at every stage that I would be “laughed out of court” if I took the matter further. Despite this, I pursued the issue through the courts and won my case. I am leaving this review because I now know of multiple people, including myself, who have experienced similar issues after buying vehicles here. My advice to anyone considering purchasing from ELM Motors would be to proceed with extreme caution and ensure you fully understand your consumer rights. This review is based on my personal experience and the outcome was legally upheld.
