I bought a car from BJH Motors & Sons on 28 November 2025, and the experience has been nothing short of exhausting. Within days of collecting the vehicle, warning lights appeared, coolant was leaking, and parts were failing. By 17 December 2025, the engine was smoking and the car had to be returned. Across the 94 days between purchase and 1 March 2026, the car spent around 64 days with the dealer and only 30 days in my possession. Despite three separate “repairs”, the same faults reappeared almost immediately each time with steam from the engine, drivetrain warnings, coolant puddles, and overheating alerts. Communication was consistently poor. Between 19–30 January 2026, I repeatedly asked for updates that were promised but never provided. Even after major work was supposedly done (new gasket, manifold levelling), the car failed again within 5 days of the second collection on 25 February 2026. When the vehicle broke down yet again on 1 March 2026, BJH Motors refused to assist in transporting it back to their premises, despite the ongoing issues and the fact that the car had already spent most of its time with them. They have not offered an apology, any acknowledgement of the inconvenience, or even basic courtesy. This has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences I’ve ever had with a business. Based on the repeated faults, long delays, lack of communication, and refusal to help when the car failed again, I cannot recommend BJH Motors & Sons to anyone. This matter was only resolved fully last week. I've since November last year I've been inconvenienced by this business's poor quality products and customer care. If you still decide to purchase a vehicle from them after reading all the reviews, you unfortunately only have yourself to blame.
Avoid This Place - Deceptive and unprofessional. I bought a Vauxhall Mokka from BJH Motors for over \xa36,000, and it has been an absolute nightmare since the moment I drove it off the lot. Literally 15 minutes after leaving the dealership, the car broke down with smoke pouring out of the bonnet. They sent a mechanic to "patch it up" on the side of the road, claiming it was a minor part. It wasn't. For an entire year, I have been dealing with the exact same issue: the coolant constantly bubbles over, the engine steams, and the reservoir runs dry. I had to replace the coolant fluid every other week. I’ve spent thousands of pounds trying to keep this car on the road, only for an independent specialist to confirm what I suspected all along - the head gasket was blown. This was clearly a pre-existing issue that was masked just long enough to get me out the door. When I called to complain, the management was dismissive and full of excuses. They tried to tell me that MOTs are "down to discretion" and that "humans make mistakes" to explain why none of these major faults appeared on the advisory. Please note that their MOTs are FAKE. They basically told me that because it’s been a year (a year I spent trying to fix the junk they sold me), it’s not their problem. Well just after you sold me the car, you refused to take it back and asked me to deal with your warranty provider who were of no help either. And by the end of the three months warranty I was stuck with a junk car. They took my money and left me with a dangerous, broken car. They claim to have been in business for 50 years, but based on my experience, they are happy to deceive customers and hide serious mechanical failures. I was advised not to buy from them but went ahead because they were local and I thought I would give them the benefit of doubt. Save your money and go somewhere else. Update: I have the right to leave this review here because yous at rainbow hill did the dodgy MOT and you and your mechanic did the patching up of the care when I bought it. Whether it’s rainbow hill or cranham I don’t care, you are all under the same company. I called your colleague Mike who sold the car several times to complain but I was sent back to the warranty provider who couldn’t do anything. I repeat that your MOTs are dodgy and I am not the first person to say this. You sold me a faulty and dangerous car and you were aware of it. The only reason it has survived till now is because I barely drive it. Thank you and do better.
What can I say, Harry from first contact to him handing over the keys to my new car was exceptional. His manner and knowledge of the vehicle was excellent any questions I asked he answered without hesitation. The car i bought looks brand new it has been cleaned inside and out. He's a credit to your company.
A fantastic experience from start to finish! Harry was friendly, professional and went above and beyond to help me source the right car and arrange my PX. Great customer service throughout the process, keeping me informed via Whatsapp. I have already recommended Harry and BJH to my friends and family \U0001f697 ⭐ …
I brought a car off BJH, after seeing the car and being recommended by a family member how good the service is, I dealt with harry, he was excellent, made sure everything was right and ready for the date agreed, I will definitely be buying a car again from you, Thankyou so much!
Very good experience over all. I called up to leave a deposit as we were certain we wanted the mini, Jamie helped get it all sorted. I had previously checked over the vehicle and mentioned if the brakes could be checked due to the visible condition. To my surprise on collection it had brand new brakes all round, at no extra cost! Not cheap quality brakes either! Was impressed that they made sure the car was ready for us to drive away. Even after sales were helpful, the advert said full service history but I could not find it all, well after an email I got a prompt response with the documents and a service book in the post! I was sceptical after reading some of the reviews, but the service overall was very good, car seems honest and I’ve purchased a lot of cars over the year. I would buy from them again.
STAY AWAY! Trust me, don’t waste your time! After a 7 hour round trip, 400+ miles and let’s not get into fuel costs etc just to be wasted by a shocking display of what was a ‘perfect car’. I phoned up enquiring about a 67 plate Ford Focus ST-2 TDCI and I got through to Jamie where - actually this is the best part - was nice over the phone answering any question being very helpful etc. I requested a walk around video which I received as im 3.5 hrs away each way, I needed to make sure it’s worth my while viewing with the intention to drive away. The video sent showed the cars good bits, not it’s bad bits - now after viewing in person these were intentionally not shown and detailed! When I arrive, Harry shows me the car which I immediately was questioning the condition of. The front splitter was cracked and grazed, the bumper and headlight was misaligned and bonnet warped as if it’s been in a front end knock but I was told nothing or shown nothing about this, the purpose of a video is to show both it’s good and bad bits, this wasn’t the case. Furthermore, the gearknob looks as if wolverine has been handling it, same with the steering wheel and the seats (yellow to colour match exterior colour a black leather) may have well have been fully black especially on the drivers seat and you could fall out the door side the seat as the bolster has fallen and the fabric sagging! Still going! The drivers side rear bumper where meets the body has many scuffs along the paint work in the join, and more paint loss in the tailgate recess on the roof. I could keep going but the worst of it, I was promised work has been carried out to rectify previous mot advisory’s and had been done recently, until I find the invoice is over a year old and some of the bits still haven’t been done including lower arm bushes etc but, get this, no advisories on this new MOT! Dodgy much! Supposedly cambelt just changed although coolant is on or below minimum \U0001f928 I hate to leave negative reviews especially on family run businesses but these Cowboys at BJH shouldn’t be selling cars especially of high value too. This focus for context has 88k on a 67 plate, harry states this is due to its age and mileage. I’ve seen focus st’s with 180k on 2015 and they look much better than this! \xa39000 they want for this, if your looking to buy this car, think again - reg for context is: WJ67 RVA, not the reg that’s on all paperwork in folder either, some were a 68 plate reg which can’t be for this vehicle. Please trust me whether you’re a mile down the road or 200 miles away, go somewhere else, keep looking for your perfect car because it isn’t at BJH. Hopefully I can save you the hours, the money, the heartache, that I had to spend.
I had an amazing experience at this dealership! Harry went above and beyond to help me find the perfect car, and I couldn’t be happier driving home in my Golf R. He was knowledgeable, patient, and made the whole process smooth from start to finish. If you’re looking for great customer service and someone who really cares about getting you the right car, ask for Harry. Highly recommend! \U0001f697⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
