My experience was outstanding from start to finish. From the very first contact and booking process through Celtic Car Legend to the return of the vehicle, everything was handled professionally, efficiently, and with genuine friendliness. When my flights were rerouted, your teams quickly arranged the necessary changes, making what could have been a stressful situation completely effortless. The city station shuttle for vehicle pickup from Buchanan Bus Station, Glasgow was arranged with a simple phone call and worked perfectly. Together with the airport shuttle for drop-off, it made both the start and end of the rental exceptionally convenient and hassle-free. The car itself was excellent and contributed greatly to my unforgettable journey. By the way, a big thank you for the complimentary upgrade—it was a very welcome surprise and much appreciated. I would also like to express my sincere thanks not only to Arnold Clark but also to the Celtic Legend team with whom I booked Arnold Clark for my fantastic rental car experience - excellent car and a first-class rental experience. If I had one complaint—and this is entirely tongue-in-cheek—it would be that the six-day rental flew by far too quickly thanks to your brilliant service and the wonderful car! After a six-month process involving both Arnold Clark and Vauxhall, Vauxhall ultimately stepped in and provided a resolution. Unfortunately, the way Arnold Clark handled the situation throughout was extremely disappointing. The Executive Office repeatedly prolonged the process, provided inconsistent information, and demonstrated a complete lack of customer service and basic professionalism. At times, emails were so abrupt they didn't even include a simple greeting. Communication was poor throughout, and I was often left chasing updates and seeking clarification on matters that should have been straightforward. What was particularly frustrating was that, despite the six months of inconvenience, stress, conflicting information and repeated complaints, Arnold Clark's Executive Office ultimately described the entire experience as a "misunderstanding." To characterise such a lengthy and frustrating ordeal in this way felt dismissive and demonstrated a lack of appreciation for the impact the situation had on me as a customer. As part of the resolution, I was required to take the vehicle to Arnold Clark Salford, which caused further inconvenience and additional expense. The salesperson I dealt with there, Lee, displayed the same level of customer service as the Executive Office – none. There was no empathy, no reassurance, and no attempt to make what had already been a frustrating six-month ordeal any easier. What made me particularly uncomfortable was the handover process. I was told to leave my car, keys and paperwork and that payment would be made within three working days. When I questioned this and asked for reassurance or confirmation regarding payment, I was effectively told that I either followed the process without question or the resolution offer would be withdrawn and I could pursue the matter through the courts instead. After six months of complaints and stress, this felt like an unacceptable way to treat a customer. I was being asked to hand over ownership of my vehicle without receiving payment and without any meaningful assurance that payment had actually been processed. It felt more like dealing with a stereotypical dodgy car salesman than a major motor retailer. To add to my concerns, I subsequently requested confirmation that payment had been made and received no response, further increasing my anxiety about the situation. Interestingly, after months of abrupt, dismissive and often unhelpful communication while trying to resolve a serious issue, I recently made an enquiry about purchasing another vehicle. The response I received was one of the politest and most professional messages I had received from Arnold Clark throughout the entire six-month process. It was difficult not to conclude that customer service is at its best when a sale is being pursued, but significantly lacking when a customer requires support, accountability or a resolution to a problem. Whilst I am grateful that Vauxhall ultimately found a resolution, Arnold Clark's handling of the matter from start to finish was poor. The lack of communication, professionalism, empathy and accountability throughout this process means I would not recommend Arnold Clark based on my experience. A six-month dispute ending with the explanation that it was all a "misunderstanding" is simply not good enough.
My van had multiple faults at 1.5 years old (15,000 miles). Got it towed to Arnold clark renault & they refused to look at at for 4 months because they didn't have a master tech. Eventually they just cleared the faulty codes & I was told it was repaired.....all the faults came back & it sat for another 6 months.......worst customer service ever...do not buy anything from this business, it's an absolute shambles.....Eventually my van ran out of warranty & they said its not there problem after waiting & being assured it would be fixed.......beware, booking a repair even under warranty can take months, no curtesy vehicle, just false promises...stay well clear
I had a great experience with this Company’s Bolton branch. In a world where customer service is so lacking these days, this Company is a breath of fresh air and I am grateful to their consultant, Dominic Armstrong-Jackson for guiding me through the whole process of a vehicle purchase in an efficient and professional manner.
