Old car head gasket went on the motorway, narrowly avoided an accident, and limped off thankfully to Arnold Clark, Wakefield. I had to get to the FA Cup final. I explained my predicament to one of the team. They opened early for me and got Chris to do all the legal and financial requirements efficiently and amusingly all over a brew. They gave me a very generous deal on my old car. Just 45 mins from entering to driving away. I got to my VIP meal in good time and had a great day. It could have been one of the worst days of my life, but Chris and the guys at Wakefield made it one of the best!
I am writing to formally raise concerns regarding both the product quality of my vehicle and the level of service received from Arnold Clarke. I purchased a vehicle from Arnold Clarke. At the point of sale, I was assured that the vehicle had undergone thorough checks and was in full working order. However, after only 4,000 miles, the vehicle developed a shuddering issue under braking. I promptly booked the car in for inspection on at the supplying dealership. I was subsequently informed that both the front and rear brake discs were severely corroded and, along with the brake pads, require replacement. I was also advised that the rear brakes are currently not functioning effectively due to this corrosion. This situation is highly concerning, particularly given the vehicle has not yet reached its first MOT and has covered very limited mileage. A failure of this nature at such an early stage raises serious questions regarding both component quality and pre-delivery inspection standards. Following this, I spoke a member of the service department, who escalated the matter internally. As to date (2 weeks later) I have received no response from Arnold Clarke. I consider this lack of communication unacceptable, particularly considering the safety implications. I require clarification on the following points: What pre-delivery inspection process was carried out, and how such significant corrosion was not identified prior to sale Whether MG considers this level of brake component deterioration to be acceptable at such low mileage Most importantly, I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle. As a daily user, this presents a significant risk not only to myself but also to other road users. This is not an acceptable standard for either product quality or customer care. Very disappointing and concerning!
