Thanks to its distinctive styling, the Vauxhall Mokka really stands out from the small-SUV crowd. But there’s more to it than just that. It has enough space to work as a family car if you have young children, it’s comfortable and quiet to ride in and you get lots of features as standard. It’s even available as an electric car.
The Mokka was launched in 2020 when it replaced the Mokka X. The engines, technology, styling and interior are all entirely new, with nothing carried over from the old car.
You have a choice of two petrol engines and one diesel. The petrol engines are both 1.2 litres, with either 99bhp (brake horsepower) or 128bhp, while the 1.5-litre diesel has 108bhp. All engines have a manual gearbox as standard; if you prefer an automatic, it’s available with the 128bhp petrol engine.
Choose from a wide range of trim levels, from the low-cost SE to the generously equipped Ultimate.
Every Vauxhall Mokka for sale has a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, climate control and cruise control, as well as bright LED headlights and a digital driver’s display instead of traditional dials. Many models also have sat nav, a rear-view camera and heated seats.
Petrol Vauxhall Mokka models can give you an average fuel economy of 47mpg to 51mpg, according to official figures. The diesel can give up to 65mpg, so it’s a good option if you do long journeys because the improved consumption offsets the extra cost of the fuel. Vehicle Excise Duty (car tax) is in the more affordable bands and insurance costs should be low. Given how well equipped even the entry model is, the Mokka is excellent value.
If you're considering a Vauxhall Mokka for sale, you might also want to look at small-SUV rivals such as the Ford Puma, the Volkswagen T-Cross and the DS 3 Crossback. The Mokka isn’t quite as spacious and practical as some of the competition but it looks great, gives you a comfortable ride and offers excellent value.
There’s lots of space in the front of the Mokka, so most people should be comfortable. The back seats have loads of room for two teenagers (or three for short journeys) but adults may find space a little tight. The boot is comparable to those in some mid-size family cars so it’s big enough to accommodate most day-to-day needs like school runs and shopping trips.
The Mokka fits into the middle of Vauxhall’s SUV range, between the smaller Crossland and the larger Grandland X. To give you an idea of how it compares in size to Vauxhall’s other cars, it’s a bit bigger than the Corsa hatchback.
Safety organisation Euro NCAP gave the Mokka a four-star rating. Standard features include automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist, while some models also have adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring.
There’s an electric version of the latest Vauxhall Mokka for sale called the Vauxhall Mokka-e. It has a range of about 200 miles on a fully charged battery.
