The Peugeot 308 is an attractive compact family car that's available in five-door hatchback or estate versions. It’s good-looking with lots of appeal and a superb interior that includes Peugeot’s well laid out I-Cockpit design. There’s plenty of equipment and a very large boot.
The Peugeot 308 provides a very comfortable drive ensuring you stay relaxed whether in city traffic or on the open road. Both petrol and diesel engines allow you to enjoy the drive when the mood takes you and there are performance versions if you want even more power and excitement. The 308 is an easy car to live with on the daily drive and when negotiating tight car park spaces. Go for the diesel engine if you’re likely to use the 308 for towing.
The Peugeot 308 is similar in size to its competitors. Where it really stands out is its enormous boot which can easily take several suitcases or your weekend camping gear. You’ll get even more packed away inside the elegant estate. All models will accommodate five adults easily and are well equipped with even the basic versions having a touchscreen infotainment system and plenty of creature comforts. It’s worth looking for models with optional packages fitted, especially if you want more technical or safety features.
Expect to pay a similar price for a Peugeot 308 as for rivals like the Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra, but less than you’ll pay for a VW Golf. Running costs are excellent, particularly when it comes to fuel consumption with both petrol and diesel engines needing less time at the pumps. Insurance and tax costs are on a par with competitors, as are servicing costs. Peugeot has topped the JD Power reliability survey and the 308 scored five stars from Euro NCAP for safety.
The Peugeot 308 is larger than the 208 with more interior room. Being a hatchback or estate it’s also different from the 3008 SUV in terms of general design. The bright interior and much larger luggage space are the main features that sets it apart from rivals like the Citroen C4 and Ford Focus. Economical but powerful engines also attract many drivers to the 308. These are among the many reasons why it has racked up numerous awards, not least a European Car of the Year title.
The 308 offers a wonderful interior with modern design and lots of equipment. It’s reliable, won’t cost the earth to run and it’s a comfortable car to drive.
Peugeot was the most reliable brand in the UK according to the 2019 JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study.
Competitive purchase prices and running costs that are comparable and, in some cases, lower than rivals, make the 308 low cost to run.
Practicality is a strong point for the 308, with its comfortable ride, spacious cabin and large boot.
The interior design really sets the 308 apart as well as being great value for money when it comes to equipment. The boot is also much larger than all its rivals.
