There are five engines available in the latest Mercedes-Benz C-Class, all of which are found in the AMG Line model. There are two petrols with 204bhp or 258bhp, two diesels with 197bhp or 261bhp and a plug-in hybrid with 308bhp. They all provide punchy performance and decent fuel economy. The more powerful options are appreciably faster, though.
The older version of the C-Class is available with a rather bewildering array of engines. The petrol engines cover a range of 153bhp to 254bhp and the diesels have between 134bhp and 241bhp. There’s also a diesel hybrid with 227bhp and a petrol plug-in hybrid with 288bhp.
