Engines and transmissions
Audi has offered diesel, petrol and hybrid powertrains with the A6, along with an automatic or manual transmission and front-wheel or four-wheel drive.
Petrol
- 40 TFSI uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder to make 201bhp for an efficiency rating of up to 39.8mpg.
- 45 TFSI increases the output from the same engine to 261bhp, providing a 5.8-second 0-60mph time, but efficiency is only reduced to 37.2mpg.
- There is also a less powerful 241bhp 45 TFSI variant, with the 0-60mph time dipping to 5.8 seconds and the fuel economy to 34.4mpg.
- 55 TFSI uses a 3.0-litre engine that produces 335bhp and achieves 32.8mpg. The Vorsprung hybrid variant increases the power to 361bhp.
- Plug-in hybrid 50 TFSI e uses the 2.0-litre engine and an electric motor to create 294bhp with an electric-only driving range of around 30 miles per charge and a fuel economy of 36.7mpg.
Diesel
- 40 TDI has a 2.0-litre engine that creates 201bhp, giving the A6 a 0-60mph time of 7.2 seconds and an efficiency rating of up to 50.4mpg.
- Other diesel motors generate between 281bhp and 344bhp, depending on the configuration.
- The most economical engine is the 268bhp 3.0-litre, which offers 55mpg and a 5.3-second 0-60mph time.
Practicality
The Audi A6 offers a large amount of space in the executive cabin, and with plenty of headroom, knee room and shoulder room, even tall adults can get comfortable.
Interior space
- Electrically adjustable front seats and steering wheel create a comfortable environment for passengers of all sizes.
- Three adults can fit comfortably in the back.

Boot space

Different generations of used Audi A6
The Audi A6 has been in production since 1994, when it replaced the Audi 100. Originally, it used the same chassis, but it was renamed to fit better into Audi's naming conventions. Audi offered saloon and Avant models right from the beginning and has taken the A6 through five generations, with regular facelifts that keep the lineup fresh and modern.
Fifth Generation (2018-2023)
Audi made sure that even the base model looked sophisticated and premium, with a bold-looking front bumper and a fastback design that featured revised taillights. From its silhouette, the A6 appears to be a typical saloon, but inside there's more room than meets the eye. With the fifth generation, Audi also provided a sunroof with every model, creating an airy cabin space.
A 2024 update added a new front bumper and redesigned grille. There were also new wheel designs released and unique rear bumper elements added. Audi also offered some new colours that allowed for more personalisation.
Fourth Generation (2011 to 2018)
With the release of the fourth-generation Audi A6, the exterior styling became even more eye-catching. Audi unveiled new LED running lights, along with a sporty boot spoiler. The interior had more premium materials included and some updated technology.
In 2014, Audi worked on creating more efficiency without sacrificing any of the power. The lineup also received some exterior upgrades, such as new lighting features, refreshed bumpers and a more attractive grille design.
