SouthwellThe Classicwise Collection is a company formed by Sam Fretwell after he became unable to continue in his employment as a result of injuries sustained as the innocent party in a near fatal road accident in May 2012. Sam has grown up around classic cars and knows all about them as his father used to import rust-free European sports cars from California USA and also built up a successful Porsche 911 sales and service business in the 1990’s. Since leaving school in 2007 Sam worked for the family business Weonlymot.co.uk, initially on reception at the various branches, but then became one of the youngest people ever to become an authorised MOT tester, and then by the end of 2011 was promoted to Branch Development Manager. He had identified, equipped and just opened his first new weonlymot.co.uk branch in Grimsby and was on his way back from there to the Ollerton head office when he involved in the horrific accident. Calling upon his father’s experience in addition to that already amassed himself, Sam’s intention is to establish himself and his company in the classic car business offering initially classic car service and repair, alongside vehicle sales & brokerage. He hopes to be able to offer classic car storage and enclosed transportation as the business develops at Bypass Garage Epperstone. The Classicwise Collection are always interested in any classic vehicle from the early 1900’s to the 1990’s. The images to the right were taken in December 1997 the little chap is Sam. A superb example of one of Abingdons most charismatic creations, the MG C Roadster represents the pinnacle of late 1960s MG motoring, combining traditional open top charm with the effortless performance of the marques larger six cylinder engine. This particular 1969 example is a desirable UK supplied right hand drive car that has enjoyed low ownership throughout its life. It is equipped with factory overdrive and has been sensibly enhanced for modern usability with hydraulic power steering and an unleaded compatible cylinder head, making it equally suited to relaxed touring or spirited weekend driving. The car benefited from a comprehensive nut and bolt restoration covering both body and mechanical components during the late 1990s to early 2000s. Since completion it has covered fewer than 20000 miles and has been carefully maintained and improved by recognised marque specialists Abingdon Sports Cars Ltd while being stored in excellent conditions. Further thoughtful upgrades include a three quarter front anti roll bar, high ratio steering rack, Spax adjustable dampers and a 123 electronic distributor, all contributing to a more assured and confidence inspiring driving experience. The interior has also been enhanced with auxiliary gauges including a voltmeter and clock, a 15 inch Moto Lita steering wheel and inertia reel seat belts.A substantial history file accompanies the vehicle documenting both the restoration work and subsequent servicing and maintenance right through to the present day, providing reassuring provenance and evidence of careful custodianship.Presented today by Classicwise complete with full wet weather equipment in excellent condition, this MGC Roadster will be supplied with a fresh 12 month MOT and comprehensive service upon sale, offering peace of mind and allowing its next owner to simply turn the key and enjoy open top motoring.
