This 1999 Brabus 450 WideStar is one of just three cars built for the UK, with the other two cars being owned by car designer Gordon Murray of Mclaren fame, and F1 Driver David Coulthard. Ordered new by the Formula 5000 Racing Driver Colin Hyams, and to this day he remains the one and only owner of the car. Leveraging on Colin's longterm working relationship with the founder of Brabus, Bodo Buschmann, together they embarked on a project of what was to become the very special Brabus 450 WideStar. Originally imported new from the Mercedes Benz dealer in Belgium as a standard Smart, the three cars were collected by Brabus from London (photographs on file) and taken back to Bottrop Germany, for the exclusive WideStar conversion to their own unique specifications Colin's car was specified in Jack Black over the Silver Tridion, Gordon Murray's was finished in the Murray Tartan, and the Coulthard car in the McLaren Team West colour scheme of the day. Additionally, the entire interior was retrimmed and recarpeted to the Hooper specification, which includes: Specially colour coordinated throughout in Brabus MidBlue perforated leather with silver grey stitching and light silver Alcantara, Brabus Carbon Steering Wheel, Brabus Gear Paddles, Brabus OverMats, and embossed Brabus B logos. This is a car that Colin has clearly doted on. It's cosmetic condition is superb, belying the car's age and mileage. The paintwork is in lovely condition, and the interior presents as very near to new. Look to the underside of the car and it's obvious the car has lived in favourable conditions. The meticulously documented life of the car is amongst the most comprehensive histories we have seen, reflecting consistent, noexpensespared upkeep.
