Ford Capri 1970 XLR

1970 Ford Capri 2000 V4 GT XLR as seen at the NEC Classic Car Show last year. This is an outstanding example which has only covered 28000 miles from new. There are two folders full of history, including its original bill of sale and letter sent to the first owner informing them that their car was ready to collect. Its a Dagenham "OO" number plate. Price new in 1970 was £1380 41 shillings and 33 pence. The first owner kept it till 1975, when it was purchased by a lady who kept it for the next 30 years only using it at weekends we are told. The history includes all old MOTS service paperwork, tax discs, receipts for other work done and 52 pages of restoration pics and notes as to what work was done.Body Stunning looking car. Very straight. no dents or dings. Couple of very minor stone chips otherwise absolutely superb. Car is absolutely solid underneathMechanics Everything on the car was rebuilt, refurbished or replaced during the restoration. Recent work includes new engine balance shaft oils seal, new gaskets, flywheel skimmed and refaced, plugs, oil , filter, points, rev counter repaired. the car starts runs and drives spot on. The engine is really quiet and starts first turn. Only negative is the exhaust has had some repairs in the past. It doesnt leak, but will need replaced in the future.Interior Seats were retrimmed during the restoration. Good dashboard, headlining and door cards. Carpet was renewed.Wheels Rostyles in really good order with good tyres. The spare is its original spare tyre which wouldnt be safe to use but nice to retain.This has to be one of the best MK1 Capris we have seen for a long time. You are welcome to come and see the car.
