This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, Online Auction 26th February on Thursday the 26th of February. , The Background; The 2014 Toyota Century (GZG50) represents the pinnacle of Japanese automotive luxury, often referred to as the "Japanese RollsRoyce". This model year is part of the second generation (19972017), notable for being the only production car from Japan to feature a V12 engine.The Century was powered by the handbuilt 5litre 1GZFE V12 which was designed for extreme smoothnessfamously demonstrated by balancing a coin on the engine block while idling which was officially rated at 276bhp (to comply with a Japanese "gentleman's agreement"), though actual output is estimated closer to 300 hp. 2014 models are equipped with a 6speed automatic transmission and the electronicallycontrolled air suspension was tailored for a "serene" chauffeured experience rather than sporty handling. The interior was traditionally fitted with highquality wool upholstery, preferred by Japanese elite because it is quieter and more breathable than leather and the the "PassThrough" seat was a signature feature where the front passenger seat centreback folds down, allowing the rear VIPs to stretch their legs completely through to the front. The exterior paint consists of seven layers, handpolished to a mirrorlike lacquer finish and the grille and wheels featured the Ho'o (Phoenix) emblem, handcrafted over six weeks, instead of standard Toyota logos. The Car;Finished in Demure Blue Mica (Zuiun), this 2001 example presents well and has patently been looked after. The odometer indicates 240,818km which equates to 149, 637 miles which is substantial but not concerning in a car built to this quality and presumably driven gently given the car's raison d'etre which is to transport rear seat passengers as smoothly as possible. We imagine that the car was probably chauffeurdriven for most of its life.The interior is trimmed in mediumgrey leather with grey carpets and acres of highly polished figured wood veneers. There are rear sidewindow blinds, a rear screen blind and 'antimacassars' on the headrests and seat arms which probably explains why the car has remained in this remarkable condition The rear seats offer full power adjustment, massaging functions and even a builtin footrest. It's fitted with a Dual EMV package, meaning display screens for both front and rear passengers, and the premium sound system and advanced climatecontrol ensure that every journey is a first class experience.Cars that have lived in Japan are generally meticulously maintained and our vendor notes that this Century presents in 'excellent condition'.
