Iver1 Previous Owner, This Lot will be sold at auction at Symphony of Spring; Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 7th March. Restored circa 20 years agoPhotographic evidence of the restoration in the history fileThe Jaguar EType Roadster stands as one of the most beautiful and iconic sportscars ever produced. Introduced under the legendary British marque Jaguar Cars, the EType had already stunned the world at its debut in 1961, but by 1969 it had evolved into the refined and more powerful Series II model. The Roadster variant, with its opentop design, captured the pure essence of 1960s motoring freedom. Under the long, sculpted bonnet sat Jaguars famed 4.2 litre inlinesix engine, delivering smooth yet exhilarating performance. With approximately 246bhp, the 1969 Roadster could surge from 060mph in around seven seconds, remarkably quick for its era. The fully synchronised fourspeed manual gearbox offered confident control, while improved cooling and upgraded brakes addressed earlier reliability concerns. Visually, the model retained the ETypes flowing lines and sensuous curves that Enzo Ferrari once allegedly described as the most beautiful car ever made. The wide oval grille and subtle chrome accents gave the car both aggression and elegance. Inside, the cockpit featured leather seats and classic Smiths gauges, blending luxury with purposeful design. More than just a performance machine, the Jaguar EType Roadster symbolised an era of style, innovation, and accessible exoticism. This EType was restored some 20 years ago and still presents well today, a testament to the quality of the restoration that was carried out. The Carmen Red coachwork is complemented by contrasting black leather interior. The XK engine runs well, with good oil pressure and offers brisk performance. Photographic evidence of the restoration is in the history folder and we are advised £4,000 has recently been spent on this Jaguar ensuring it presents as well as possible. Described as driving with no known faults, this is a good honest example of a Series II EType Roadster. Today, ETypes remain highly soughtafter collectors car, admired not only for their speed but also for its timeless artistry and unmistakable British character. Consigned by Stewart Banks
