Iver2 Previous Owners, This Lot will be sold at auction at Symphony of Spring; Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 7th March. In current ownership for almost 40 years. Recent engine rebuild. Described as 'a convenient family car, a businessman's express, a sports coupe and a grand tourer,' the SType embodies that famous Jaguar mantra: Grace, Space, and Pace. Produced from 1963 to 1968, the SType was a more technically sophisticated development of the Jaguar Mk. II, offering buyers a more luxurious experience than its predecessor, and significant improvements in road holding and safety as well. It was available with either 3.4 or 3.8 litre XK engines, and featured longer rear bodywork, among other styling and interior changes. Despite being heavier than the Mk. II, the SType's independent rear suspension allowed it to corner faster, especially on uneven surfaces, providing better traction and a much smoother ride for rearseated passengers. That made it the vehicle of choice for the Metropolitan Police, who would often be seen giving chase to numerous criminals at the time! This example was originally finished in grey but repainted in beautiful British Racing Green two years after our vendor purchased it. He has taken excellent care of the vehicle during his almost 40 years of ownership, and it shows: the leather is in great condition, as is the walnut dash. The former was retrimmed six years after our vendor purchased the car and presents very well today. The carpets have been replaced more recently, and the engine was completely rebuilt in July 2021 by a Berkshirebased marque specialist at a cost of almost £7,000. Overall, this is a handsome luxury British saloon which, after comparatively recent mechanical work, is now ready to be fully enjoyed. Consigned by Charlie McCreery
