This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Race Retro 2026 Collectors' Cars on Saturday the 21st of February, Stoneleigh Park, Stoneleigh Rd, Coventry, CV8 2LG. , Towards the end of the E24's life, BMW introduced a limitededition (factory code Package 129) for the UK market. Based on the 635 Highline they were known as the 635CSi Motorsport Edition and equipped with most of the visible performance features of the M635. The comprehensive specification included Shadowline exterior trim, electric sunroof, rearseat head restraints, tricolour Msport labels, graduated tinted screen, memory electric seats, air conditioning, electric mirrors, headlight wipers, rear spoiler, leathertrimmed steering wheel, and a rear window blind. The interior featured handstitched Nappa leather on the seats, door panels, centre console, glove box, roof lining, sun visors, door pillars, upper door trim, and dashboard. The 'Motorsport' cars were only available in three colours and this splendid example is one of 60 finished in Misano Red (a more vibrant shade compared to the more muted Zinnobar Red of the earlier models) over the impressive Black Nappa Hide interior.Registered new on 23/3/1989 by JCT 600 as their demonstration model, before being purchased by Mr Bryan Ellison, a pharmacist, on his retirement in 1990, his pride and joy would accompany him to the island of Madeira in 1994, where he and his wife spent the next 23 years. During that period other vehicles were employed for daytoday use and the BMW was dry stored and only brought out for occasional trips around the island. By the time the Ellisons returned to the UK in 2017, the 635 had covered less than 25,000 miles from new and during their time in Madeira, periodic maintenance was carried out by the local BMW agents who also carried out some recommissioning prior to the car returning to the UK and being sold by Hexagon, London.Always dry stored and only brought out for high days and holidays in recent years, our vendor has enjoyed trips to the Lake District, North Yorkshire and Northumberland together with several visits to the Goodwood Revival, and states that the car behaves impeccably and has proven 100% reliable during his custodianship. Accompanied by a detailed history file and maintained in recent years by a highly regarded local BMW specialist with regular servicing in 2021, 2023 and 2025 with additional work including the replacement of the front shocks, a suspension arm and fuel pump using original BMW parts.Offered for sale due to the necessary reduction of a small private collection of exceptional low mileage classics, this remarkable survivor is presented in what can only be described as time warp condition, due in no small part to its time in Madeira away from the ravages of the English winter, but also as a result of careful dry storage and custodianship before and since. With just three former registered keepers, current ownership approaching five years, a little under 34,300 miles, well maintained, and still sitting on its original factory alloys shod with correct TRX tyres, this surely must be one of, if not the best, example of the marque extant! A rare opportunity indeed for a BMW collector or enthusiast. Last serviced in April 2025 with only 1,700 miles since, it will be freshly MOT'd prior to our sale. This striking, limitededition E24 is now ready for the next episode of its rather charmed life and we invite and encourage your viewing at our Race Retro Sale in February.
