This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Race Retro 2026 Collectors' Cars on Saturday the 21st of February, Stoneleigh Park, Stoneleigh Rd, Coventry, CV8 2LG. , Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1963, the MercedesBenz 230SL, internally coded W113, marked a new chapter in the Stuttgart marques sporting lineage. Replacing the 190SL, the 230SL introduced a level of sophistication and design purity that would come to define the SL name for decades. Styled under the direction of Paul Bracq, its more angular lines were both elegant and purposeful, crowned by the distinctive concave hardtop roof that inspired the Pagoda nickname. Beneath the bodywork lay MercedesBenzs new M127, 2.3litre straightsix engine with Bosch mechanical fuel injection, allround independent suspension, and front disc brakes, creating a car that balanced performance, refinement, and reliability in a way few could match at the time.This example was first registered on 15th May 1964 to Lady Katie Fraser of Allander, wife of Sir Hugh Fraser. It spent much of its early life garaged and has benefited from longterm family ownership from 1996, followed by current ownership since 2018. During this period, the car has seen relatively little use and has spent extended spells in storage, so some recommissioning may be required prior to regular use.Finished in SL White (050) with a contrasting dark blue removable hardtop, the colour scheme is complemented by navy blue leather seats and midblue carpets, all replaced in 1997, and the car is further enhanced by the desirable optional sidefacing third seat. A stainless steel exhaust has been fitted and the car is booked in for a service prior to sale.It's supplied with period documentation,  a selection of invoices, MOT Certificates dating back to 1981, its original buff log book, spare wheel, and MercedesBenz jack.An original UKdelivered, righthand drive 230SL with manual transmission, offering an appealing balance of usability, provenance and classic 'Pagoda' charm.
