This is the range extender model, which we think is essential for the I3, as this example has a small petrol-powered generator that extends the vehicles electric driving range once the battery has reached a very low percentage (usually around 6%). This means you can fill up the petrol generator (takes around £10-£12 to fill from empty) and you can achieve 60-70 miles from that. This takes the stress and anxiety out of owning a full electric vehicle. On full electric expect 60-80 miles depending on weather, driving style ect and another 60-70 miles on the petrol generator giving this small electric car a solid overall range and much better than its competitors such as the Nissan Leaf. This example drives phenomenally with blistering acceleration, this is just as quick 0-40 mph as a BMW M3.
