The 2008 Mondeo Edge does not have any of the over-complicated, emission regulation strangled issues of more modern diesels - This is old-school reliability and durability from an era many consider "Peak-car". I have always been a fan of the Mondeo and this Mk IV (third generation) model was lauched in 2007 to huge success. These were fantastic cars to drive the estate inparticular was highly practical with 525 litres of luggage capacity with the rear seats up and 1630 liters with the rear seats folded down. This makes it a practical choice for carrying larger items, especially with its spacious design and low load lip. Even by modern standards, this is a large car - But unlike a lot of modern cars it is not bloated - Just practical. I find the Mondeo estate a far more practical and useful car than the crossovers of today and this incarnation was, in my opinion, the best ever. If anything this estate version is an even more attractive car than its 5 door sibling with the sweeping roofline enhancing the sharp and attractive lines of the front end. It may be 17 years old, but having covered less than 64k miles, our Mondeo still drives and looks fresh and fantastic! It is easily as good as modern equivalents with a smooth diesel engine and quiet, comfortable cabin. Well weighted steering, a smooth and responsive powerplant and excellent feel mean that you will enjoy every moment behind the wheel. Ford made a huge effort when developing these cars to ensure they performed as a drivers car as well as a practical family car so the Mondeo delivers a superb ride and handling combination that elevate it above all rivals. The 1.8 litre TDCI diesel has the desirable 6 speed manual transmission. This engine is a smooth operator which is also highly frugal giving 45mpg fuel economy.
