Auctioned on Saturday 29th November.

This lot will be auctioned via Historics Classic and Sportscar Auctioneers at The Brooklands Velocity; Mercedes-Benz World sale on Saturday 29th November. Guy Salmon 25th Anniversary Jubilee Edition. Cosmetically restored. The Jaguar XJS was introduced in 1975 as the successor to the E-Type and remained in production for 21 years. Designed as a Grand Tourer rather than an out and out sportscar the XJS was powered by Jaguars 5.3 litre V12 engine, with the choice of manual or automatic transmission. Producing 295bhp, the XJS was capable of 150mph and with all-round independent coil suspension, power assisted steering, and disc brakes offered excellent handling. The dramatic styling of the XJS did not go unnoticed by one of the foremost Jaguar dealers of the time Guy Salmon, who commissioned a limited Jubilee Edition. This rare and fabulously maintained Guy Salmon Jubilee Edition is presented in Solent Blue with contrasting light interior and sitting on lattice alloy wheels. Our vendor decided when treating this example to a cosmetic restoration, including repaint, to remove the iconic yet frankly ugly celebration grille and problematic chrome arch flares but kept the rear spoiler which is part of the coachwork, we think a better compromise with the twin headlights rounding off the special 25th edition. The interior wood has been revarnished and the car boasts just 67,000 miles from new and a wealth of paperwork in the history file. Our vendor absolutely loves this car and is very sad to see it go but hopes the work and attention he has shown it will be appreciated by the new owner, viewing strongly recommended.
