Mercedes-Benz 560 SL 2019 (E) - 2-Door

One owner from new in California, known to our vendor for many years. Comprehensive service history. Converted to European specification lights and bumpers. Launched in late 1985, the 560 SL was the latest in Mercedes-Benz's long and much loved line of luxury sports cars that could trace its lineage back to the 230 SL of 1963. In the 560 SL's case its Type 107 bodyshell had debuted on the 350 SL (introduced in 1970) and this timeless style would continue in production for almost twenty years. The 560 SL was powered by a 5.5-litre, overhead-camshaft V8 engine producing 227bhp, an output good enough for a top speed of 125mph with 60mph reachable in around eight seconds. There were improvements to the running gear in the form of anti-dive/anti-squat rear suspension, a limited-slip differential and revised steering geometry. Other noteworthy features incorporated as standard in this class-leading car included leather upholstery, anti-lock braking, anti-theft alarm system, stereo radio/cassette, leather trimmed steering wheel/shift lever, and an improved climate control system.This example spent virtually its whole life with a single owner in California, who was well known to our vendor, and only used the car very occasionally, such is its remarkably low mileage of just over 38,000. The Almandine Red bodywork presents superbly, with the very welcome addition of European specification lights and bumpers, quite an expensive upgrade which drastically improves the looks of these cars. The tan leather interior is also in fantastic condition, commensurate with the mileage. The history file shows a comprehensive service record from the USA and given the spectacularly low mileage, we feel this represents excellent value and would make a perfect continental cruiser.
