Every so often a bus passes through our hands that just has a special feeling about it. As soon as I saw this bus I knew it was special but when I drove it, I knew it was one I could keep forever more. Buses like this are becoming increasingly harder to find these days. Every single aspect of this bus is everything you could wish for from a classic camper van. It just has that feel about it entirely indicative of this era in general. It has been lovingly restored in a sympathetic way as not to spoil the originality. The bus started life in Germany and was exported to California. It was then later imported into the UK. Cali buses are renowned for being good solid shells that have been generally well cared for and have not suffered a harsh wet climate like many other parts of the world, massively aiding their preservation. This bus is no exception to the rule and formed the perfect basis for a gentle restoration and repaint in what has to be the most beautiful colour of all time, Chianti Red. This bus is a genuine Westfalia featuring the fibre glass front elevating roof and rear roof rack. This has all been completely stripped and repainted by us including a brand-new roof canvas November 2025. The roof is better than it would have been from factory. The steel roof of the bus underneath the pop top was in exceptional condition commensurate with the rest of the vehicle. All of the panels are superb and the bus presents well throughout as the factory intended. The bus starts on the button and the 1600cc engine runs like a dream complete with its original ancillaries and all-important air oil bath cooler, it ticks over as it should and revs up without any flat spots. The bus has a meticulous history folder including its original spare key set, operators manual, interior operating instructions (These are all hens teeth items that you never see!). There is a wonderful prepared album documenting thorough photographs of the buses restoration and invoices relating to the bus dating back through the decades. Another true indication of the level of enthusiasm and care that the previous owners have put into looking after this vehicle. It was also the sole subject of a 6 page article in VW Camper & Bus magazine, copies of which are included within the history file and can be viewd on our website. Original Westfalia Campmobile interior in time warp condition and ready to be used. Rock n roll bed in good working order and upholstery in lovely condition throughout. Original fridge and sink unit. Portable gas stove. Removal buddy seat section. There is a double bed in the roof area and a double bed downstairs making the bus a 4 berth in total. An awning could be added also to increase space massively. We have options that we could discuss with you regarding this so get in touch if you are interested. Generally cosy and versatile inside. Ideal for short or long camping trips. Road tax exempt. Generally cheap to insure. MOT exempt but will be provided with an MOT certificate anyway for peace of mind.
