Beneath the long, sculpted bonnet, the celebrated XK engine can be found in its 4.2 litre form, offering effortless torque and a wonderfully rich soundtrack. The introduction of improved cooling, better brakes and upgraded electrics made the Series 2 a much more useable and reliable option in comparison to the earlier Series 1.Most notably, the drive of the Series 2 was much smoother with the introduction of the synchromesh gearbox, making for a much friendlier driving experience.
