ECC - ELECTRIC CONVERSION
This beautifully restored 1971 Volkswagen Beetle presents in outstanding condition, finished in its vibrant original shade of Nepal Orange, complemented by chrome bumpers, hubcaps, and detailing. Inside, the cabin has been fully refreshed with grey carpets and over mats, grey door cards with twin orange pinstripes, and smart black vinyl seats. The restoration prior to conversion was extensive, so as expected it is totally solid throughout and hard to find fault with. While retaining its unmistakable period charm, this Beetle benefits from a professional electric conversion carried out by &039;Electric Classic Cars&039; arguably the most trusted household name for classic conversions. It is fitted with a Hyper9 electric motor producing 120bhp, paired with the original 4-speed manual gearbox. This ensures the car keeps the character and involvement often lost with single-speed automatic conversions. It is fantastic to drive, thanks to an uprated anti-roll bar bar and adjustable GAZ shocks front and rear. My first car was a 1970 Beetle, and I&039;ve had many classic VW&039;s ever since and I can say that bar the unmistakable throb of the original flat 4 engine, I can&039;t find any negatives! Charging is neatly integrated via the original fuel filler flap, now housing a 7kW charging port. Power comes from a 30kWh battery pack split between front and rear compartments for improved balance and weight distribution, while still maintaining practical luggage space under the hood. The result is a range of approximately 100 miles on a full charge, and a full charge should take less than 5 hours. Further thoughtful upgrades include rear seat belts, making the car more usable for family outings, while the rest of the car remains true to original specification. Even the fuel gauge has been repurposed to display the state of battery charge, blending modern technology with classic design. Importantly, the conversion has been fully recorded with the DVLA and the registration document updated accordingly..
