MG MGA 1957

The MGA was designed to catch up with a market that was threatening to leave MG behind. The '50s had brought all manner of new British sports cars onto the market - and while many of them were sleek, curvy and streamlined, MG's offerings were all based upon pre-war lineage. This was their revolution moment, bringing them right up to date in a fabulous, sweeping roadster. Built in Abington in 1957, this RHD 1500cc roadster is a gem of a car. Supplied new to its 1st owner in Bath, the car then spent nearly 30 years in and around Bristol until arriving in Sussex in the late 80's. In 1990 the car underwent a complete rebuild by a reputable classic car restoration company, Major Marques LTD in Dorset for around £12000, full documentation and photographs accompany the car. The current owner has had the car since 2007 and exported it to Spain where it has spent the last 17 years sunning itself, the car was driven back to the UK with no issues and was brought straight to us ready for sale. Whilst residing in Spain GGL 937 has enjoyed many adventures including taking part in the 2010 "Winter Marathon rally" in Madonna di Campiglio in Northern Italy and had a "Terratrip" fitted for entry. A "Historic Technical Passport" was also required, which included a full FIA inspection to prove the car is original and meets with the organiser's requirements, the car passed in flying colours, and now has FIA class: GTS rating issued by MSA. As well as Italy, in 2017 the car took part in a North African Classic Car Tour organised by the SOL Spanish classic car club, and the Moroccan classic car club, taking in Tangier, Rabat, Fez, Chefchaouen back to Tangier. While in Spain the car also took part in numerous CSCCA Club (The Classic and Sports Car club of Andalucia) events held every month plus 4- and 5-day tours. Finished in Old English White with a Deep Burgundy Interior and a light Tan Hood, the car also comes with its complete set of weather gear including soft top, tonneau cover and side screens all of which are in superb condition and fit properly. The car runs really well, gear box and steering responsive, all new tyres and braking pads. The mileage is just over 44,000 miles and believed to be genuine. The car is a joy to drive, and always draws a crowd when parked up, the burgundy interior, adds to its classic look.
