Bishops StortfordLaunched in 1961 and celebrated for its stunning design, exceptional performance, and advanced engineering, the EType propelled itself to the forefront of British motoring. Designed by Malcolm Sayer, its aerodynamic shape features a long bonnet, glasscovered headlights, and a sleek fastback roofline. The interior combines classic British sports car aesthetics with luxurious touches, including leather scallop bucket seats and a woodenrimmed steering wheel. Powered by a 3.8litre inlinesix engine, the EType accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of around 150 mph. It features a fourspeed manual Moss gearbox and advanced independent suspension for superior handling. Notable innovations include its semimonocoque construction and fourwheel disc brakes. The ETypes design and performance were influenced by Jaguars racing success, particularly with the DType, and it remains a cultural icon, favoured by celebrities and frequently appearing in the media. Highly sought after by collectors, the EType Series 1 3.8 Fixed Head Coupe is a timeless masterpiece in automotive history, admired for its beauty, performance, and historical significance. Introducing this fabulous 1963 example, finished in the sophisticated Opalescent Gunmetal over a red leather interior, just as the car left the factory when dispatched on 5th September, 1963. This EType is the ninth from last to feature the aluminium dash. Notably, this Jaguar was first owned by the company themselves. Issued with Coventry registration 2507 KV on delivery, and put to immediate use as a press car. The car can be seen on test in Belgium, in an August 1964 issue of Autosport Weekly. The car remains a matching numbers example to this day, as confirmed by the Jaguar Heritage Certificate present. The EType benefited from a thorough restoration in the late 90s, with all of the invoices having been retained and filed in order in the vehicles comprehensive history file, alongside extensive photographic records of the work undertaken. Most recently, this EType was cherished by longterm family ownership. Having been acquired in 2010 by Mr. Stephen King, the car was thoroughly enjoyed and cared for after realising a life long dream to own an EType. Used on weekends in good weather and garaged when not in use, the car was always enjoyed by Mr. King. Unfortunately, he passed in away in 2017 after battling an illness and the car was passed onto his children who continued to cherish the car. Today, having been cared for by Hilton & Moss, this EType is offered fresh from a sympathetic recommission. With an already fantastic base to work from, attention was focused mainly on the cosmetics of the interior and engine.
