Ashorne1 Previous Owner, This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Supercar Fest 2026 on Saturday the 16th of May, Sywell Aerodrome, Sywell, Northampton, NN6 0BN. , The MAN TGE 180 4x4 (3.180) is a highspecification variant of the large van codeveloped in conjunction with the Volkswagen Crafter and features a 2.0litre biturbo diesel engine producing 180bhp and 410 Nm of torque fed through an 8speed automatic DSG gearbox to all four wheels.Based on a 2022 example, this highly individual build was purchased new by our vendor on the first of March that year with a clear and carefully considered brief. Sam Branson, a committed adventurer, philanthropist, documentary and film maker, as well as a keen music enthusiast and dedicated family man, sought to create a capable, goanywhere vehicle that offered the comfort and warmth of a cabinlike interior, avoiding the more clinical feel often associated with modern camper conversions. To bring this vision to life, the vehicle was entrusted to Vans and Recreation, where Luke Harper worked closely with Sam to deliver a highly bespoke conversion tailored to that exacting specification. Further specialist input came from VolksTrek of Aberystwyth, who carried out additional suspension work to enhance the vehicles offroad capability. The TGEs 4x4 system, combined with upgraded suspension and offroad tyres, supports its intended use for remote travel, whilst the addition of a frontmounted snorkel offers improved air intake and the ability to traverse more challenging terrain when required. The result is a distinctive and carefully considered example, from hereon known as The Adventurer. The conversion itself reflects a clear focus on usability and adaptability. The interior is finished with beautifully restored Oak, creating a warm, chaletinspired environment that feels more akin to a compact cabin than a conventional camper. At its centre is a cleverly designed living and sleeping space, featuring a pullout bed that extends to a kingsize arrangement, complemented by additional sleeping provision created via a lowering table system. Beyond the main cabin, a roofmounted tent box expands overall capacity, allowing the vehicle to accommodate up to five occupants when required.Practicality has been carefully considered throughout. In addition to the two front seats, further integrated seating within the conversion allows for safe travel with family or guests. Storage solutions are both internal and external, including a dedicated rear locker suited to wet or outdoor equipment, helping to keep the interior environment clean and dry. Access to the roof is via a side ladder, where the space has been designed not simply for storage but as an extension of the living area.In keeping with the vehicles lifestyleled brief, the roof incorporates a number of distinctive features. Integrated deck chairs and an umbrella provision transform the upper section into a usable relaxation space, whilst external speakers support outdoor use, whether at a campsite or festival setting. A portable projection system within the cabin offers a simple and effective cinemastyle experience, reinforcing the emphasis on comfort and enjoyment during extended stays. The onboard kitchen is fully equipped for independent use, including a gas hob, microwave, toaster and sink, all neatly integrated to maximise available space. Solar panels mounted on the roof contribute towards offgrid capability, supporting the vehicles ability to operate away from traditional hookups for extended periods, and there are of course bike racks fitted too.Supplied with a comprehensive file relating to its build, including compliance documentation, the vehicle demonstrates the level of detail and investment involved in its creation. The cost of the base vehicle was almost £60,000, with conversion works understood to have taken the overall cost to almost £150,000, underlining the bespoke nature of the project. With more conventional alternatives on the market often in excess of £100,000, this represents an opportunity to acquire a vehicle that stands apart both in concept and execution. Its matt black finish hints at the nature of the truck, whilst the interior offers a notably more inviting and considered environment.Within the vehicle's history file is an invoice from Windrush Motors Witney detailing a full service on 29/04/2025 totalling £392.18 at an indicated mileage of 6,178. At the time of cataloguing, the vehicle displayed just 6,657 miles and will be offered with a fresh MOT prior to sale.Commissioned by a vendor whose lifestyle demanded both capability and comfort, The Adventurer represents a wellexecuted and highly individual interpretation of a modern 4x4 camper. Equally suited to remote travel, family use or festival environments, it offers a distinctive alternative to more conventional conversions, with a clear emphasis on thoughtful design and realworld usability.
