1973 VW Bay Window Camper Van. Right Hand Drive. Restored. Massive Specification. Very rare double door model. Bespoke High End Camping Interior. A very rare double door VW T2 Kombi Van built in June 1973 with a very interesting, detailed history of ownership dating right back. The bus was owned by a construction worker and originally used by him as a taxi to ferry people back and forth from the airport, collecting family and friends etc. The bus even has its original service book from new with early date stamps which we have never seen before in all of our years dealing with classic VWs. Many years later after the bus was sold on to a VW enthusiast in its completely original but somewhat tired condition where it was sent to a VW restoration company where the vehicle was stripped right back and fully restored to its former glory. The bus has recently been painted in its original VW colour, Neptune Blue with the added feature of an off-white roof to compliment the wheels and bumpers. Underside prepared to a superb standard.Rebuilt 1600cc engine that is believed to be the original unit to the vehicle. The engine has an alternator upgrade, all new ancillaries save as to the essential and rare original componinets that ensure an air cooled engine runs as it should. For example the original oil bath air filter has been restored and ensures that the vehicle ticks over well when coming up to junctions. All brakes overhauled. All other mechanical components fully checked / reconditioned wherever necessary. It was very important to keep the exterior and mechanics of this bus stock so that it retains its original charm. We have built a high end bespoke modern interior to allow the bus to be user friendly so that it can be used and enjoyed with modern comforts.
