Description: CoventryEagle Cycle and Motor Co. was based in Coventry and had begun as a bicycle manufacturer in the 1890s before moving into motorcycles in the early 1900s. Unlike makers such as Rudge, who designed much of their own engine technology, CoventryEagle was a skilled assembler of premium proprietary components using engines from JAP, Blackburne, Villiers, Matchless and others, combined with excellent frames, cycle parts and finish. The company had a reputation for wellmade, reliable machines,The CoventryEagle D44 350cc (19281929) represented the sporting end of the company's lightweight range marking the transition era between vintage flattank motorcycles and the more modern saddletank styling that dominated the late 1920s,The heart of the machine was its J.A. Prestwich (JAP) OHV engine a beautifully made power unit that was used by many prestigious manufacturers. It was a lively, revhappy engine compared with sidevalve singles of the day, giving the D44 a genuine sporting character,This smart example is an older restoration, but still presents very well. A goodlooking vintage bike that is both running and riding well, according to our vendor who is reducing his extensive Collection, having owned this bike for the last 10 years,Offered with a current V5C (correctly classed as Historic), and numerous literature and books on the marque, JAP engines and others,
